Chapter One

We come to a facility deep within the jungle. The facility is not very big but is one of those structures that is more mass on the inside than it is on the outside. We enter in the heart and pan throughout the vicinity. This building is a maintenance shed and voices can clearly be heard from a distance as we go towards their direction. Four people are seated around laptops, cans of beer, and lit flashlights lying on the ground.

One couple is off in the distance kissing hard, and the other couple sit in the center in a more intimate fashion. The group consists of two men and two women, who are close friends hiding out for the sake of excitement in getting caught, as well as some privacy for an intimate rendezvous. One of them, Kelly, is a scientist while the others are simple college students looking for some fun.

Kelly stops the festivities and leaves to grab some more beer from a nearby cooler. Her boyfriend, Mark, lies back on his hands behind his head as the other two friends, Roger and Bernice, continue to passionately embrace as Roger tries to take off Bernice's top. Kelly catches on to this action.

"Hey! We don't need to see any more than that; save it for the bed.", she calls. Mark just laughs.

"Lighten up Kell", he responds. "it's not like there's a real one out here."

"Unless you make one out of leaves and twigs.", Kelly replies back.

"I'm down for that.", Roger exclaims excitedly before picking up Bernice and taking her outside. He closes the heavy door behind him, leaving the room even more dark than before. Kelly groans as she sits with Mark again.

"Is there ever anything that they won't do together?", she asks Mark as she pops open a can.

"Can't play with yourself.", he jokes. Kelly punches his arm as he kisses her again.

Just then, a strange noise can be heard from the distance, and footsteps can be heard rapidly getting closer to the scene. Roger and Bernice are too preoccupied to pay attention. As the sounds get closer, Roger suddenly sits up.

"What is it babe?", Bernice asks him, holding him in place by her hand around the back of his neck.

"Thought I heard something out there.", he replies.

"Just some birds."

"No; I heard running.", he answers as he gets up and adjusts his clothing. He pears a few feet away from Bernice lying on the ground in nothing but her underwear, watching him and her surroundings very carefully.

Back inside…

Mark and Kelly are kissing on the cold floor as she tries to unbutton his jeans. He grasps her wrists and places them firmly above her head. He smirks as he kisses her from her lips down her body. She moans at the feeling.

"You think they're alright out there?", Kelly asks.

"Who cares?", Mark responds.

"Nice to see your concern in full circle."

"My only concern is you.", he replies as he goes lower.

Outside, Roger has ventured further away as Bernice stands right behind him, holding his shoulders firmly.

"It's just a bird, right?", she asks.

"Kelly said that there's not a lot of birds around here. Even if there were some, they're all pretty small; this sounded bigger than that."

"Then just go ask her then. She's the only scientist within 100 yards from here, and I doubt the other ones are still on the boat from here."

"Just calm down. We haven't been here in a while; it could be something new."

At that moment, the rapid running is heard again. Bernice gasps and holds Roger tighter.

"What was that?", she timidly queries.

"Velociraptor maybe?"

"Outside of a paddock?"

"You know the history of this place; these damn morons can never keep anything contained."

"Yeah, but…"

Before she can answer, rustling can be heard much more closely than before. Roger and Bernice freeze as Roger slowly moves a leaf in front to check the sound. A creature can be seen and growls at them.

"Oh my God…", Bernice starts as the creature leaps at them. She screams and runs as Roger glances at the creature briefly before darting after Bernice.

Meanwhile, Kelly hears the shriek outside and stops Mark from going any further.

"What the hell, Kelly?!"

"Get out there, now!", she yells as she dresses again and runs to the door.

"What, why?"

Kelly doesn't answer as she quickly opens the door, just as the animal outside slams into it and another scream is heard.

"Help me Mark; it's jammed!", she calls out. They both grab the handle and pull with all their might, but the door won't budge an inch. More running and screams are heard outside as we hear Roger call out "get out of here bastard!" from a nearby distance. Finally, the door opens, and Kelly and Mark run out. Kelly quickly notices a lifeless Bernice lying on the ground and just as she runs to her, she sees a strange animal chewing on her friend's head. Kelly gasps and back away quickly, with the animal immediately following. She involuntarily bumps into Mark, and he instantly turns around and lands into shock.

"What the hell is that?!", he yells towards Kelly.

"I-I don't know; this isn't on InGen's list at all!"

Just then, Roger runs towards them as a Raptor leaps onto his back and tears away at his flesh.

"Oh my God.", Kelly gasps. The Raptor continues to eat away as Kelly and Mark decide to make a run for it, with a herd of Compy's blocking their path. Mark tries not to step on the dozens of them surrounding, but soon falls to the ground as they begin to attack. Kelly starts to pursue her escape as the weird animal stops her in her tracks.

"What are you?", she blankly questions, and then it leaps onto her as she lets out a piercing scream.

Later that day…

We see a Jeep with "Jurassic Universe" written in red against the side quickly drive across the road in hot pursuit. The viewpoint pans up as we see a man in his late thirties pleasantly driving the vehicle. We see that his nametag says "Lielow".

"Hey, Lielow, where are you dude?", a man on a radio addresses. The man picks it up and responds.

"On my way; just wait for me."

"I've been waiting for twenty minutes dammit."

"Then wait another twenty; I'll be there soon, over and out.", he says as he places the radio back down on the passenger seat. He checks his surroundings and continues to drive on.

The Jeep pulls up to the front of a maintenance shed with three other people waiting by the door. The man climbs out and casually strides towards them.

"There you are you son-of-a-bitch! Where were you?", the man who called him earlier angrily shouts as he gets closer.

"Nesting.", the man jokes.

"Smartass; everyone's expecting you."

"Then why didn't you started already? You're acting like you needed me."

"You're lucky Mr. Hammond likes you and I don't. I would fire your ass on the spot."

"Calm down Ricky. What's the problem now?"

"Another fence is down. Apparently, the box was damaged somehow; some kind of hard force."

"Should I look for Vader then?"

"Shut up and go check it out. Claire and the boss are here, so make an impression, one that will actually impress them."

"Please. Since when have I never been able to charm a lady?", he answers as he makes his way towards them.

"You'd be surprised.", Ricky grumbles.

"Heard that!", Lielow calls back. He stands in front of Claire and main boss lady, Rebecca Andrews, also known as the only woman that John Hammond trusts with his life. both are dressed professionally with Lielow in the casual vest, black tank top, hiker boots, and cargo shorts.

"Johnny.", Claire addresses.

"Hey Claire. How's your boyfriend doing?"

"Better than he deserves and for the last time, we are not dating."

"Sure, you're not. So, what happened here?"

"Apparently something strong slammed up against this box (nods in direction of box) with just enough velocity to break the controls inside.", she accounts.

"What kind of dinosaur could do that?"

"Any the size of us and determined."

"Determined to shut off the damn power?"

"Need I remind you of some of the species we have here? Any one of them could have done this."

"Yeah, just like any one of them could wreak havoc on the island; are you guys ever going to learn?"

"We're working on it."

"With lots of years, research, and demise behind you. Remind me again why anyone thought this was a good idea to begin with? Or was casualty part of your plan?"

"It never was; we just, have a few bugs to work out."

"Like extinction? These dinosaurs already had that happen to them, as your scientists keep telling me that is."

"Mr. Lielow", Rebecca interjects. "we didn't bring you here to once again criticize our life's work. We brought you here to fix a problem since you are the only one here who can do it, so please keep your opinions to yourself before I remove you from your job for good?"

"Not sure Hammond would agree to that; unlike you, I got this job from respect and a courtesy to my friend."

"Who happens to be my boss.", Rebecca reminds.

"Maybe, but I kept it in my pants for my position, so there's a major difference between us sweetheart." Rebecca scoffs.

"Typical men."

"Typical female scientist. Now, can I get back to work in peace?"

"Certainly.", Claire rejoins as she and Rebecca make their exit.

"Have fun with Owen! He's an unlucky guy you know.", Johnny calls out to her.

"Now I know why Sarah left you for Ian.", Claire remarks.

"Boo-hoo; I'm so sad.", Johnny says back sarcastically. The women drive away as Johnny and Ricky are left behind.

"Still think that you're a ladies' man?"

"Hey, she knows I love her."

"Right. That's what they all say."

Johnny then steps further to inspect the damaged box.

"What's wrong?", Ricky questions.

"None of these dinos have ever shown this kind of aggression, unless it's towards a piece of prey; why suddenly change that?"

"Since when do dinosaurs have an agenda? All they do is kill and eat and make little dinos as well."

"Yeah, but this? It just doesn't fit right with me."

"Nothing fits right with you John. Why do you think Sarah left?"

"Hey, Ian only won because of that incident on the other island. He was a worthy opponent I'll admit, but Sarah had it better with me."

"Sure, she did. So, is it fried?"

"Not sure, but the electrical current makes it hard for me to double-check."

"Anything I can do?"

"You always have my back Rick."

"And your front as well."

Later that day, Johnny is riding an escalating elevator up to the twenty-second floor to meet with an old friend; John Hammond. He says hello to the receptionist Diane as he makes his way to Hammond's office. He knocks three times before Hammond lets him in.

"Johnny!", Hammond greets him with an affectionate hug.

"Nice to see you again Dad."

"You too my boy. Come in and sit down and tell me what's new."

"Do you happen to have a list of every dinosaur here by any chance?"

"Why Johnny, is that any way to greet your old father?"

"Sorry, but it's important. Another box was destroyed."

"Why, it seems the animals have been having some fun now have they?"

"Maybe, but why would they be damaging what we need to work? Doesn't it seem unlikely that they would target it?"

"Well, yes but remember, these animals are unpredictable, which is why my park was unable to be released to the public."

"Yeah Dad, but come on; dinosaurs hurting maintenance equipment? It just doesn't seem all that possible."

"I know son, but I'm sure it's nothing serious. We…"

"…spared no expense, I know, but think about it; this has happened more in the past week than it has in the past year. Even the Raptors wouldn't do this, and all they did was open doors by hand."

"Have you talked to Claire about this?"

"You know she never gives a logical answer apart from her stubbornness."

"I know you like her Jonathon."

"Yeah, as a shadow."

"What does Henry have to say about this?"

"Haven't asked him."

"Well, go and do it. Henry is the reason why we were able to fill in the gaps for these creatures even existing."

"Yes, but he's also the one responsible for that I-Rex causing havoc."

"He was only following orders from Mr. Masrani…God help him… Johnny?"

"Yeah Dad?"

"You have never been one to shy away from a problem, so I trust that you will be able to figure this out without the public catching wind."

"But Dad, Rebecca isn't helping and no-one else knows what's going on. My foot is caught in the dark here."

"Johnny, I have raised you to solve these problems with you own sense of quick wit and impulses; I'm sure you can handle this well."

"Okay…I'll talk to Wu about it and let you know."

"That's my boy!", Hammond exclaims as he kisses his son's cheeks.

"I really wish you'd stop that.", Johnny jokes.

"Go out there and make me proud."

"Already doing that as this island is still on.", Johnny remarks as he makes his exit.

"Johnny", Hammond calls out and Johnny turns, waiting for his response. "we spared no expense.", Hammond says as he makes a fist at his son.

"We spared no expense.", Johnny makes a fist and leaves.

Johnny locates Henry Wu in his office and quickly rushes inside.

"Johnny!", Henry exclaims.

"Hey Wu. You got a sec?"

"Of course. Anything for my boss's son."

"Do you have any idea why the animals are going insane?"

"Insane? You're making them sound like mental patients."

"Henry, the fences are failing, and our equipment is becoming more damaged by the month; what's going on?"

"How should I know?"

"You made them."

"Actually, God made them, but I brought them to life."

"Henry…"

"Listen, I can't control what happens with these monsters, but it sure as hell isn't the fault of our engineers in the slightest."

"Is that why so many people have died by your hands?"

"Oh please."

"Henry, these dinosaurs don't even know what century they're in and will defend themselves, violently if necessary; don't tell me that you're never been prepared for this. Alan and Ellie were always on point with this."

"Yes, and one of them was stranded on an uncharted island with another one of our hybrids on the run."

"And he escaped alive I might add."

"More or less. Haven't heard from him in a month."

"Johnny, I know you're concerned but there's no reason to be. The dinosaurs can never win against us and we're the reason why they exist at all! Just let us do our jobs."

"Your jobs don't mean much when other lives are at stake."

"Hey, I'm not the one that wanted to start a theme park with extinct creatures that were dead millions of years ago! You can blame your father for that. I am, however, the one that keeps everything on track, and perfectly in control."

"Control" doesn't mean chaos."

"Yes, and Ian would agree with you, but this is what we have been doing from the beginning and nothing in Jurassic Universe is natural, so don't go on blaming us for the unpredictability for the animal's behavior."

"Guess the frogs are responsible then, huh?"

"Look, I know you think that your opinion is the only one that matters here, but just because you work here does not mean that you have full authority."

"I'm sure my Dad/boss would say otherwise."

"Hammond can't always be there to protect you John; he's a dying man."

"Who's at least opened his eyes to how dangerous this is. He worked his ass off to keep us safe!" "And how did that turn out?"

"Fine until the instincts kicked in. I'm sure Gennaro appreciates the irony in that poetry."

"Get out. There's no need to continue this conversation."

"I could say the same about this operation. Work all you want on your scientific studies but don't come running to me when it comes around and bites you in the ass. This is all your fault, so stop blaming others for that mistake."

"You have a lot of nerve saying that to my face. You might be in charge but without Hammond, you could never keep this place intact."

"Neither could you. Good day.", Johnny concludes as he heads for the elevator and rides it all the way down.

It might seem like trouble right now, but pandemonium will only get worse from here.
