I looked up into the tree tops as something big and black caught my attention.
'A bird?' I asked myself. 'No, it can't be. It's too big.'
I looked around at the family members in the car. No one seemed to notice anything. Which I thought was kind of strange but I wouldn't say anything and risk getting called crazy.
The reason I was in a car at this point in time was because me and my family had went up to the U.P of Michigan to pick up my uncle. I only got to see him a couple times every year. One during summer, around after school, and once around the time of my birthday, in November.
'What is that?' I asked myself again as I turned my attention back to the figure in the sky. 'And why does it look like it has shoes?'
I do have shoes and I'm a person. Well—a winged person. But still a person. A voice entered my head.
Who are you? I asked, in my mind, obvious to the fact that this person could read my thoughts and it seemed like this is the only way we'd be able to communicate.
My name is Ciel. The voice replied.
Why are you here? I felt kind of awkward for talking into my head to a boy, a winged one at that.
I was sent to protect you. He replied.
What do you mean 'you were sent to protect me'? Why would a winged boy be sent to protect me, a normal human girl?
Zareb, I don't think she knows… Ciel said.
From the way it sounds, she doesn't. Another male voice replied. And right after that voice made its way into my head, another boy, polar opposite of Ciel, appeared behind him.
Ciel was dark. Black haired, black clothed, black winged and he was even dark skinned. While Zareb was pale, had white wings and bright colored clothing. A bright red shirt and light blue jeans with white shoes. How no one saw the red shirt confused me.
Zareb, why are you here? I asked.
Like Ciel, I was sent to protect you. He replied.
Why though? I demanded; my voice was harsh.
Because of what you are. Ciel's voce was quiet and gentle.
I'm just a human. I let out a soft sigh.
Trust me, no you're not just a human. Ciel's voice was still soft. Zareb had stopped talking.
Then what am I? I was truly curious.
Should we tell her, Zareb? Ciel asked his polar opposite partner.
If you truly want to. Zareb replied.
Ciel turned his attention on to me and even from the angle I was at and even though I was close to the ground and in a car, I could tell that even his eyes were black. You're a vampire.
