Jimmy's POV
I had to bit down the jealousy as I watched Ben wrap his arms around Karen to hold her back from attacking his father. I heard Tom talk to her, but I wasn't really paying attention. As Hal was explaining about the explosives I felt like something was wrapped around my throat, cutting off my air supply. I started gasping for air and tried to pull the invisible force off.
Ben's POV
As I listened to Hal explain about Pope and the explosives I heard gasping coming from Jimmy, concerned I turned my head towards him. What I saw frightened me, I saw him frantically grabbing at his throat as his face turned red. "Jimmy!" I let go of Karen as I knelt down beside him. I pulled him onto my lap and wrapped my arms around him.
As I did so I felt the overlord's presence around Jimmy. I turned towards him. "Stop it! Please, he hasn't done anything to you." I yelled desperately at him.
I felt the connection drop as his chest started to rise and fall. I let out a breath I didn't even know I was holding as his hands curved around my arms, pulling him self up into a sitting position. I bent my head down, placed a kiss on his head, and whispered "You're okay now." I tightened my hold on his waist as Karen turned towards us and spoke, but it wasn't her speaking.
"You have seen what I can do even in my weakened state. Now release the girl and me and we shall be on our way." I saw my father and brother tense up. "No, not until we have passage by the Mechs and Skitters outside." I heard my father say. "Very well, you shall have your passage, but this is not the last you will see of us."
I stood up and helped Jimmy up, wrapping my arm around his waist as we walked from the room. I heard Dad and Hal walk behind me before going of to help the others. I knew we would be on separate bikes for the remainder of the trip to Charleston so I had to spend as much time as I possibly could with him. "Ben, what happened back there?" Jimmy asked me. "The overlord tried to show us a lesson by trying to kill you."
I said pulling his form closer to me. He leaned his head on my shoulder and I pulled him behind one of the vehicles. When we were out of sight I pulled him to me, kissing him with vigor and passion. His lips were soft and molded to mine perfect. I deepened the kiss as I wrapped my arms around his waist and pulled him closer to me.
I smiled into the kiss as I felt and heard the vibrations and sound of him moaning into the kiss, but it ended too soon as he pulled away for air. "What was that for?" I sighed. "When you were choking I was really shook up because it really put into prospective that we don't have all the time in the world and that we should live everyday as our last so I thought I would start with a kiss." He smiled.
"What a mind blowing kiss it was." I laughed and just hugged him to me. I heard someone call for us in the distance as Maggie came into view. "Sorry to interrupt boys, but we need to get going." We both nodded and she walked away. We followed behind her and got on our respective bikes. Captain Weaver gave the orders and we were off.
