~Soulfully Family~
Kid gulped down the lump in his throat. The school that his father built was looming over the five year old boy and it was more than a bit scary. But Kid came to this school for the sole purpose of visiting his father and, most of all, his mother. "Kid?"
The black and white colored boy turned his head back and saw his mother walking towards him. His two gold tone eyes became filled with excitement and happiness. "Momma!" Life gave a small smile as she lifted up her son high above her head and spun around in a circle, laughing with her son's squeals of happiness and 'faster!'s. "What are you doing here, baby?"
Kid wrapped his arms around his mother's neck and said, "To visit you and Dad!" The meister cradled her little boy close to her side, his legs wrapped securely around her waist, as she continued her walk into the school that her husband built. "Your father is going to be excited to see you."
The five year old looked up at one of his heroes and asked, "Why can't Dad leave the school?" Life sighed; both she and Death knew that sooner or later that question would come up. Life's warm honey colored eyes dimmed slightly, indicating her sadness of never having a house that has both her son and husband living and growing in.
The fairly young woman said, "Your father had to seal his soul here to protect the world from someone who use to be his ally and friend until the need for power got too strong for him to handle and control. If it wasn't for your father, we wouldn't be here right now."
Kid titled his head to the side, the right side of black bangs falling slightly into his face. He stared thoughtfully up at his mother and admired her more for staying with his father who never could leave this place. Life turned her head and looked down at her son, her smile still (always) gentle and her snowy white hair shimming slightly from the way the afternoon sun glowed behind her. "Don't be sad; I don't think our visit with your father will be pleasant if you were upset." Kid smiled a toothy smile and nodded his head in complete agreement.
~Few Minutes Late~
"Kid! Life! ~~" The woman and child laughed as Death caught them in a tight hug and spun them around in circles. The shinigami finally placed his wife and son down but still had his arms around him. His gold eyes were filled with the shine that hasn't shown since Life left for on a mission and Kid being busy with school. The god smiled as the two struggled to catch their breath.
Life leaned into her husband side and looked up at him, taking in all of his physically features that first caught her attention when they were younger. From his inky black hair to his moon colored skin. From his warm gold eyes to his strong and powerful hands. From his towering height to the way the nose that Kid inherited and his smiling lips was beautifully set and balanced on his face. She leaned up on tip toes and kissed the long scar that ran down his right eye, her smile increasing when she heard Kid say "Ewwww!",saw him from the corner of her eye cling tighter to Death's black pant leg, and felt the heat rising from Death's cheek.
She pulled away and placed her head on Death's jacket covered shoulder. The moment didn't last long because Kid was pulling impatiently on the pant leg that he had a death- no pun intended- grip on. "Come on, Dad! Play with me!" Death looked at Life with eyes that were saying 'sorry' as he was pulled away. The pale skinned woman just shook her head and watched the man and boy of her life- again, no pun intended- played some unknown game and silently wished that moments like this could happen more often.
