Hiroshima is where it all began. Their friendship was her inspiration back then and was all that had kept her going. Kaiya looked out the window of the steady, fast locomotive, sighing to herself. She sat up straighter in her seat wiping her tired eyes. Her muscles cried out in pain, having been on the train so long, she hadn't used them since the night before. Letting out a small whine, at the stiffness she felt, she stood stretching. Shaking her head, along with her now wild multi-colored hair, trying to banish the face of her childhood friend. The thought ceased and she wondered what had brought on the sudden memory. Before she could think on it anymore the train lurched to a stop.

"AHH!" she screamed as she fell, as she was jerked forward, her feet coming from under her. "Last stop!" the conductor yelled over the loud speaker. "Great, no more time for thinking." She grumbled getting to her feet again, brushing off her now dusty clothes.

"Hey!" her ears pricked as a gruff male voice from behind her sounded. Slowly turning she came face to face with the last person she wanted to see, Bankotsu. Her eyes narrowed, voice sounding strained and harsh. "What do you want?" she said hands balled into fists at her side.

"Hmm…" he said looking her over with a slow smile. She cringed slightly before lifting her chin, a slow smile creeping into place. "Are you done?" she said resisting the urge to blush and cover her bare legs. "I need to get off…" she said nervously.

"So do I" he said, eyes roaming her body once more. "Shall we go together dear Kaiya?" He didn't wait for her to answer, but grabbed her hand, pulling her behind him.

"Wait!" she cried breathless, rage barely contained. Suddenly he came to a stop, turning to face her, his face stern. "Do you want the job or not?" he asked looking slightly annoyed.

Taken aback she gapes in surprise, "what?" Closing her mouth and narrowing her eyes she stared. "Why are you offering me a job? What's the job?" He laughed watching her go rigid. "It's an illustrating job" he said ignoring her other question.

"I'm not even a good artist, so why would you have me do it?" she replied still suspicious. "Because you're the best one I know, and believe me I know a lot." He said smiling smugly. "How much does it pay?" she asked hesitantly.

Smiling he replied,"a hundred and fifty a month sound good?" She couldn't help staring, 'is he serious!?!?' "What's in it for you?" she thought aloud. "Hm…I guess you don't need a job that bad if you can be so hesitant at such an offer" he said turning away.

"Wait!" she said without another thought, stopping him in his tracks. "When can I start?" she asked. "Hm…today if you like." He said smiling as he walked away. "0352 S. Turoni is the address. Just drop by sometime after class." He said just before he rounded the corner.

"Ok thank you!" she called after him, smiling to herself. "Bye…" Looking at her watch she gasped. "Oh no! I'm gonna be late!" she said, spinning around and running off to class.
