It was all but quiet in Station Square; shoppers littered the streets, birds clouded the sky and all the while he was watching. After all the battles fought and all the wars waged in this city, people still found a way to ignore it all and continue blissfully unaware that the fight would return; more ruthless than the last. This was
'Typical...' Shadow thought as he looked down upon the crowded city. 'These humans have no idea how dangerous the world can be'. Then suddenly a familiar blue hedgehog invaded his vision. 'What's the Faker up to now?'. He tracked his rival's movements until the small speck finally came to a halt. Shadow should've known Sonic ate chilli dogs for breakfast, he was starting to wonder if he ever ate anything else. 'It's habits like that which stops work from getting done, and when people hurt we'll all know who to blame'.
Only a second passed before his attention was dragged away as screaming barraged his ears and a huge airship appeared in the sky above them. Shadow gave it the normal lookover and quickly realised it wasn't normal for an Eggman invention, this looked powerful. He had no intention of talking this head on, but Sonic on the other hand. The hero dashed at it, attempting to break through one of the windows so he could gain entry. Shadow was confused at why the Doctor was allowing this to happen, that was until he witnessed the man himself sneak behind Sonic in his small custom ship.
"Behind you!" Shadow yelled.
Explosions showered the airship's side yet the famous blue blur remained unscathed, landing on top of a nearby building. "Nice try Eggman but now it's over!" the hedgehog shouted. "On the contrary I believe it's just beginning," he smugly replied. Sonic knew what was coming and dodged the egg-bots that had snuck up behind him but before he could counterattack, felt a sharp pain in the back of his neck. 'What is this!?' he thought pulling a small dart from the wound. "Do you like it? It's a diluted form of strychnine, kills slowly but painfully". Sonic's vision turned blurry and his muscules started to stiffen and ache.
'I can't win while he has an advantage like his eggbots would swarm me before I had the chance to even throw a punch. I hate to admit it but I need help if I'm going to stop him this time'. The blue hero's legs finally gave in and he collapsed on the floor while Shadow just stood there watching.
