Scapegrace turned to Thrasher. They were standing in the hospital at the Irish sanctuary. Nye had gone out, and Scapegrace had decided that it was time for him to make his grand escape. "I'm going to check if the coast is clear."

The now female Scapegrace stepped into the corridor and leaped back in shock. The Skeleton detective was standing there. Scapegrace turned and attempted to run away, but Skulduggery turned and saw him/her.

For a second, Skulduggery remained frozen, staring at her, then slowly his gaze wandered down and up again.

"We'll, hello" he said, stepping towards her. "I'm detective pleasant. But you, can call me Skulduggery."

Scapegrace bit his lip, not knowing what to do. He took a deep breath, and attempted his best girls voice. "Hey Skulduggery," he said in a pathetic attempt to sound feminine. He sounded more like a very masculine mouse. "I'm, uhh, Sc-*cough* My names Grace."

The detective nodded and took another step closer. "That's a beautoful name Grace. I was wondering, would you like to accompany me to one of my favourite spots? It has a beautiful view, and lots of...privacy."

Scapegrace nodded, having no clue what else to do. Skulduggery took his hand and led him out to his Bentley. The two of them got in the car and drove to Haggard. Once they arrived there, Skulduggery opened Scapegrace's door for him, and led him to the edge of the pier. "I like to come here and think." He said. "It's beautiful, isn't it?"

"Yes!" said Scapegrace, in a high-pitched squeak.

"So are you..."said Skulduggery, edging closer to her.

"Uh! I have to go." Exclaimed Scapegrace, in the same pathetic voice. "I need to do the ironing and uh... bake some brownies!"

"Oh." Said Skulduggery, looking disappointed. "When will I see you again, Grace?"

"Soon!" Squeaked Scapegrace, hurrying away.

A few minutes later, Valkyrie arrived at the pier and stormed up to Skulduggery. She slowed down a bit when she saw the longing gaze on his face.

"Where have you been Skulduggery?" asked Valkyrie. "I called you about ten times."

Skulduggery sighed, and turned to her, with a dreamy gaze on his face. "Oh Val, isn't it such a beautiful day."

"Uh...sure." Muttered Valkyrie. "Anyway...I just came here to warn you to keep an eye out for Scapegrace."

"Scapegrace?" Asked Skulduggery. "Isn't he dead yet?"

"Unfortuantly no," said Valkyrie. "Nye made him a new body. He's a girl now, though. Somehow, he managed to escape the sanctuary."

Skulduggery froze. He stood there, silent and unmoving for a long time.

"Skulduggery..." Said Valkyrie.

Skulduggery didn't even look at Valkyrie. He simply turned to look out at the sea, and jumped off the pier.

"Skulduggery!" Screamed Valkyrie, collapsing to the ground and crying.

After a long time of Valkyrie sitting on the pier crying and screaming, she heard footsteps, and turned to find a beautiful, tab, muscled guy with blond hair standing at the pier staring at her, with hands on hips.

Valkyrie froze. Skulduggery suddenly didn't matter anymore. Nothing mattered but him.

Valkyrie stood up, and took his outstretched hand.

"Hey, I'm Gerald." He said.

They walked of happily into the sunset, and Valkyrie no longer thought of Skulduggery.
