My first fanfic! I'm not done with Final Fantasy XIII yet, I'm on chapter 11, so hopefully I don't get any details wrong. It's just a little story that doesn't really make sense, but I hope you'll like it.
Disclaimer: I do not own any part of Final Fantasy!
Lightning opened her eyes, remembering the missing warmth on the other side of her bed that hadn't been there for a while now. She groaned as she tried propping herself up on an elbow, completely forgetting about the bruise on it she got recently from work. She stretched and got out of bed, walking across the cold hard floor, heading for the bathroom. She looked into the mirror, staring straight into her own bloodshot eyes. She grit her teeth as she slammed her palm onto her reflection.
'Oh, I see you're awake, Lightning. Morning,' the petite girl by the counter greeted, as Lightning made her way down the stairs, the soles of her bare feet making the slightest noises. The soldier nodded in exchange and went over to make her own coffee.
'How's your arm?' Serah continued. 'Is it any better?' Lightning didn't answer. Seeing that her sister didn't bother reacting, Serah could only look down into her half empty cup, wishing she had the old Lightning back. The Lightning that smiled at her.
'Are you leaving already?' Serah mumbled behind Lightning. After putting on her boots, she headed straight for the door.
'Lightning?' she stopped. 'Be careful, okay? I love you.'
After a few moments of silence, Lightning pushed down on the door handle, making it squeak. She stepped out, releasing her grip on the handle. She didn't look back as the door closed behind her.
'I love you too.'
