A/N: A quick drabble of the butterfly family. It was my sister who prompted me to write this and so I'll be dedicating it to her. You guys can follow her on tumblr; her name's: cherlosity. She'll be posting up a fan art drawing of this particular story soon. :D

Disclaimers: I do not own SVTFOE. And I do not own this song. It's actually the song Darling sang to her new born child from Lady and the Tramp.

Anyways, I hope you guys enjoy~

Moon's Lullaby

In another dimension not very different from ours, save for the magic and monsters, there lived a Royal family. Their castle stood high and mighty in the middle of the small kingdom, with towers reaching for the sky, each higher than the next. It looked extravagant, with excellent designs.

Surrounding it was a well-built moat. Clear crystal waters lay still and undisturbed in the silent night. The stars and moon were the only source of light, shining comfortingly at the sleeping kingdom. Well, comfortingly as possible at least to everyone, except a tired Queen.

"Hush my little one." She whispered to the crying child. "Please don't cry."

But the baby didn't stop her wailing.

Her tiny face turned red as her cries echoed down the halls of the ginormous castle. The evening patrol guards sympathetically looked towards the source and could only imagine the sight of their Queen trying to calm down their future ruler.

"Oh my darling." Moon Butterfly swayed her babe close in a soothing manner and hummed a familiar tune. She was so caught up, she didn't realize a figure leaning on the doorpost watching her every movement.

"La la lu, la la lu…" she sang so softly it almost felt fainter than a whisper. "Oh, my little star sweeper… I'll sweep the stardust for you."

Little baby Princess Star stopped wailing immediately after hearing her mother's song. Tears were streaming down her chubby pink heart cheeks as her crystal blue eyes tiredly fought to stay awake. Moon smiled warmly and gently wiped her daughters tears away.

"La la lu, la la lu… Little soft, fluffy sleeper…" Slowly, but surely, the little princess quieted down to sobs. "Here comes a pink cloud for you."

The Queen hugged her and rubbed her back. "La la lu, la la lu… Little wandering angel. Fold up your wings, close your eyes…" Star's tiny fists curled and uncurled as a small yawn escaped her lips.

"La la lu, la la lu… And may love be your keeper… La la lu, la la lu, la la lu…"

It wasn't long until Baby Star fell back into a deep sleep, and it was only when Moon put her baby down did the figure make it's presence known.

"You've become an expert." The voice chuckled.

The Queen jumped a little and turned to face it. "Don't scare me like that!" she scolded quietly.

"Sorry." Came the reply. "I heard the crying getting worse and thought I should check up on my two favorite ladies."

She smiled and sat on the rocking chair beside the crib. "Much appreciated my dear River, but you're a little late."

"Let me finish." He stepped into the room, the moon illuminating his face. The Queen smiled and raised a brow, but let him continue. "I came in just in time before you started to sing."

Moon blushed lightly making River chuckle. "And, I didn't want to stop the scene unfolding before me, so I stayed put." He walked up to her and getting on his knees, he slipped his hand under hers and kissed her knuckles. "You're an amazing mother, darling."

"Thank you." Her voice was airy, as if she sighed it out.

River gave her a lazy loop sided grin. "How 'bout we head to bed, now that our Starshine is sound asleep."

Moon daintily covered a small yawn with the back of her hand before nodding in agreement with her husband. Sleep sounded good at the moment. The two got up and walked back to their chambers hand in hand, both lost in each other's comfort.
