What's Going to Happen on Monday?

From Sophie's Point of View …
It was a gloomy Saturday morning. Even if I had made plans today they would've surely been canceled by the dark clouds that threatened to open up at any moment. I blearily looked out the window and let out a sigh. Today could have been productive! I could have cleaned or run some errands but instead I had been sentenced to Saturday detention with Mr. Marincovich, the resident sour puss and wrestling coach of Haggerty High School. I wasn't even really at fault! I know that everyone says that but in this case I truly wasn't! Eric Wayes and some poor freshman had been duking it out in the hallway and I of course, being my usual intelligent self, had tried to break them up by stepping in between them. Not only had I received detention for being an "instigator" but I had also been decked across the face by Mr. Muscles himself and had woken up with an absolutely gorgeous natural smoky eye. Affectionately referred to by me as the black eye to end all black eyes. Yea … to say that yesterday had been rough would be the understatement of the century. Letting out another sigh, I dragged myself out of bed and started to get ready.
It was almost 7:53 when I pulled up to the school's front parking lot. We were supposed to meet in the main office building at 8:00am sharp and I was already cutting it close. After grabbing my bag from the back seat, I raced through the double doors into the office and plopped into a chair next to the other inmates- I mean classmates. James Bennette (the self proclaimed bad ass), Milton Fredrickson (the brain himself), and Eloise Davids (Haggerty High's resident angel of darkness) all sat forlornly in the cheap plastic chairs waiting for Mr. Marincovich to arrive. "Hey, Sophie!" Milton excitedly exclaimed as I sat down. "Hi, Milton. What are you in for?" I asked in an attempt to make conversation but before he could answer James cut in. "Well, if it isn't Mother Theresa herself. What'd you do to get detention, Soph? Forget to polish your shoes and bake cookies for the homeless?" I brushed my hair out of my face, ready to deal with him when he let out a whistle. "Damn, look at that shiner! Let me guess, the other guy looks worse?" At that moment, Eric walked through the doors. I let out an internal groan and cursed my luck … this was going to be a long day. He stiffened up when he saw me and sat as far from me as possible. "Some repressed sexual tension there, lover boy?" James asked in a jeering manner then winking slyly at me. Eric just rolled his eyes and muttered "as if." I bristled a bit at the insult but said nothing and luckily Mr. Marincovich chose that moment to walk in, saving me from any more embarrassing comments from James or insults by Eric. As soon as he was in the room he began barking orders at everyone. "All right, ladies! We're going to be spending the day in the library so grab your shit and let's go!" We all scrambled to get our things then followed him through the hallway.

Sneak Peak for Chapter Two:
From James' Point of View …
Sophie Greene was the very definition of pure thoughts and good will, so you can imagine my surprise when she walked her happy ass through those doors for detention. 'Well' I thought 'this is certainly a motley crew we've got here.' We had a little flavor of every social group in Haggerty High School with us today …
