Lord of The Rings: The Return of the King Alternate Ending

"Precious, precious, precious!" Gollum cried. "My Precious, O my precious!"

Frodo stared bleary eyed at Gollum, and staggered forward. Gollum instantly hissed as he saw the hobbit coming towards him.

"You will not take the precious," He cried. "It's ours! Ours!"

Then, while Gollum gloated, while Sam ran forward, and while Frodo stared, The Nazgul came. Gollum stared at the Nazgul, eyes wide with fear. Then, the Nazgul snatched the Ring, and Gollum with it. Frodo and Sam watched with horror as the Nazgul tore off through the skies, and towards Barad-Dur. Frodo tore his eyes away from the horrendous sight, and looked at Sam. Sam nodded, and the two tore out of the fires of Mount Doom, and down the Mountain.

All through-out Sauron's realm, his minions heard his laugh. They were confused, not knowing that he finally had the key to his complete domination of Middle Earth. While it struck happiness into the hearts of his followers, it struck fear; pure, absolute, fear, into the hearts of his enemies. Aragorn, Legolas, Merry, Pippin, Gimli, and Gandalf all felt a pang of fear as Sauron laughed. Whilst this was going on, Frodo and Sam were charging after the Nazgul, trying to think of a way to stop its progress to Barad-Dur, and Sauron's ultimate victory. The Hobbits got closer to Sauron and to their death with every step, and they knew it.

"Mr. Frodo, why not we just go home," Sam asked, gasping for breath, "We're going to die, might as well die at home." Frodo looked at him, with the eyes of one who knows there is no hope, but is going to fight to the death anyways. "Sam, what do you think might be waiting for us at home? It could be what we saw in Galadriel's crystal."

Sam looked at Frodo as if his master was crazy. "Mr. Frodo, why would that be," he asked, "What makes you think that that'll await us at the Shire?"

Frodo looked straight through him, as if remembering something he didn't want to remember. Then he said quietly, "Sam, Galadriel said that what we saw in that crystal bowl would come to pass if we did not complete our quest. We didn't complete our quest did we? We didn't destroy the Ring. So, that's what will await us at home. That, or eternal slavery." Sam stared at his master, and then said grimly, "If we're going to die, we might as well die fighting."
