Disclaimer: Hey, remember me? You know, that poor college student. No car, no money, no food. If I owned Inuyasha, I do believe I'd have all that, and more.
:D
Yet another drabble. I'm in the mood, what can I say!
Miroku enjoyed the simple life. Sure he liked nights of luxury, who didn't? But overall, he was content to travel the country side, helping people in need.
Well, for a price. After all, money did help to make life simple. Anything he needed, money always made it happen. The more the better.
One can't forget the women either. Their presence always managed to keep him content.
Yes, the simple life was the life for him.
Then he met Inuyasha. With Inuyasha came Kagome and Shippo. Eventually Sango and her Kirara were added into the mix.
He tried to maintain his simple life. Every opportunity he got, he exploited his power, often seeking out wealthy village leaders and noblemen. It was all in vain.
None of his travel companions ever seemed to understand him, especially not the females. Always wary of his intentions. Like he had anything but the purest thoughts.
Well, okay, he could admit the last part as a lie. He was often tempted by their femininity. Being handsome, young, and available was something to exert. He learned quickly that his advances would be unwelcome.
Yet he continued to try. Who knows, they could change their mind.
It was doubtful, but he had always been optimistic.
Traveling with a group was so much more complicated than traveling alone. He couldn't say that having people there to watch his back wasn't nice. But that went both ways. The longer the group was together, the more dependant on each other they became.
Gone were his simple ways. Help people, fight, survive, be rewarded, rest, wander.
No, now he was faced with responsibility. Now he not only had to keep himself alive and look out for his own wellbeing, but extend that to the life and wellbeing of five others. He couldn't do as he wished, he had to consider the opinions and feelings of five others.
But it wasn't as horrible as he made it out to be, he decided.
Yes, he had a responsibility. Inuyasha, Kagome, Sango, Shippo, Kirara. They were all dependant on him.
At the same time, they all had a responsibility to him. He was just as dependant on them as they him.
Gone was his simple life. And, as much as he lived for it, he couldn't help but feel it wasn't much of a loss.
XD Yeah. I don't really know what all that's about. I just sorta started writing, and it just sorta came to me as I went. I feel accomplished now. What'd ya think?
