In Regard to Relationships

By: J. M. Blockhead

At the ball I gave her a long, fervent kiss;

To my heart's desire and content;

Then I was drifted away by the softness of her cheek against my lips;

I flew above the clouds, and through the air like an angel;

I could hear the sound of a blissful, divine melody playing;

Ringing among the surface of my eardrums;

I could feel the rays of pure sunshine play upon the nerve endings of my skin and pores;

Coating me in warmth;

Anointing me with happiness;

Oh, Heather;

Ohhhhhhhhhhh, Heather;

Suddenly I was overcome by height;

I fell from the heavens, through the clouds, and back into my own bedroom;

I woke up snug in my own soft bed thinking it was but a dream;

I walked to school that morning feeling empty and heartbroken;

Until my dearest, closest friend Linus overturned those assumptions;

He had refreshed in my memory every last thing I thought I'd dreamt;

And at that moment, for the first time in my short life, I was fulfilled;

For without this information I'd be incomplete;

My heart aching;

My soul left in hunger and lust;

And now with the joy of my heart embraced;

The frown that scarred my face for so many years overturned with confidence;

A tiny spoonful of pride overcame my shame;

And I realized and ascertained that my life was not at its end, but was only at its beginning;

Warm and protracted with long-lasting glee and honor;

And it all started with that one moment of truth;

When I desired you, Heather, more than ever
