How it happened in the Mirror Universe.

Arena

The mirror Kirk was just putting the finishing touches on his improvised cannon. The Gorn was slowly closing in. His ankle throbbing, to much pain to run. Kirk had a thought. He pulled the translator the Metrons had provided.

"Kirk to the Gorn captain." He said.

"I hear you.". Came a wheezing voice. "Are you ready to give up?."

"No, listen to me. We're both starship captain's, intelligent, sophisticated. Have you considered we're both being manipulated to put on a show for these Metrons?"

"I have considered it."

"I have a proposal."

"I'm listening."

A few minute's later the two stood thirty paces apart. Kirk pointed his cannon at the Gorn. Reached over with a smoking cloth and dropped the weapon.

The Gorn walked up to Kirk, drew his stone dagger, raised it high above his head. His fingers loosened and it dropped to the ground.

Kirk looked to the sky. "Metrons you've failed. We're not going to entertain you anymore. Do you hear me? You're going to have to find your entertainment somewhere else."

The Gorn looked up and began hissing. Kirk's translator turned the hissing into words.

"We are civilized. We can work out our differences."

Suddenly, Kirk dropped and rolled. Snatched up the cannon. Pointed it at the Gorn and screamed.

"Suuuurrrrpriiise." He touched off the cannon blowing the Gorn away. He did a tap dance around his victim and sang.

"Whooohooo, I am Captain James Tiberius Kirk and you're just a big dumb lizzard." He looked up at the sky. "OK, Metrons, time to full fill your side of the bargain. Blow up the Gorn ship."

A moment later a trans-lucent being appeared and said, "the Gorn have been destroyed. And captain I must say I'm disappointed, not surprised but disappointed in you. I thought you were better than this."

Kirk grabbed a rock and hurled it at the Metron. The rock passed harmlessly through the Metrons body.

"Captain, we are quite superior to you. You can not harm us.."

"Oh, but one day, I will make you a slave of the Terran Empire. Now return me to my ship."

"As you wish."

A moment later, Kirk was back on his bridge. The bearded Spock realized this was a good time to remove the Captain from command. Kirk was arrested and charged with the murder of the Gorn.

The Courts Marshall determined that Kirk had acted properly and up held the values of the Terran Empire. Kirk was reinstated as Captain.

Fearing arrest or assassination, Spock, along with his concubine, Janice Rand. Fled to Cardasian space. There they worked for the Orion Syndicate as arms smugglers. Supplying weapon's to the Marquee.

They lived happily ever after. Or at least what passes for, happily ever after, In the Mirror Universe.
