A/N: Well... First story :D Constructive criticism PLEASE because I have never written fanfiction before (except the ones about Gensoumaden Saiyuki when I was like, seven, and they don't even count because I was copying my cousin and I wanted to have a notebook with stories in it like her, dammit). Fluffy-ness?
DISCLAIMER: I do not own Naruto, any variations of it thereof nor do I own any characters in this story. If you have read a story similar to this before, I assure you that I did not know of its existence.
Gaara lay down in bed trying to force himself to sleep. It's been months since Shukaku had been removed from him, and yet he was still unable to relax and let go of consciousness at night. He sat up and sighed. Somebody knocked on the door and it opened slightly. Temari poked her head in. "Still can't sleep?" she asked. He shook his head no. "What are you doing up so late?" he asked his sister. She shrugged. "Can't sleep," she said with a chuckle. He then noticed her holding two mugs. She saw him staring at the mugs and told him "Warm milk. Thought you might like some."
"Warm milk?"
"Supposedly it'll help you fall asleep."
"I doubt it."
"Worth a shot."
He took the mug she offered and thanked her. Temari sat on the edge of his bed and started sipping her milk. Gaara did the same and the two sat in relatively comfortable silence. He was pleasantly surprised to find that the milk was calming him down a bit. Not enough to make him fall asleep, of course, but still. It was different from how he usually felt. They both finished their warm milk and Temari took Gaara's mug. She smiled at him and said "It doesn't matter how strong a ninja you'll become or that you're the Kazekage even. I'm your big sister and whether you like it or not, you are still my littlest brother." She laughed quietly and kissed the top of his head then left the room, closing the door behind her.
Gaara stared at the door before realizing that his eyes felt a bit heavy. Well, what do you know, he thought. He mused on how much his relationship with both his siblings changed. It had started at the Chuunin exams, but even more now without Shukaku yelling at him from inside his head all the time. The three of them still didn't really talk much but instead of the silence being a fearful one, it was a silence filled with hope. Thoughts like this went through his mind like faint little flashes as he finally drifted away. Warm milk really does help you fall asleep, he noted with a slight jolt of surprise before finally slipping into quiet slumber.
