I missed you guys and thought I would write a one shot for my come back, though I am not sure if I like it or not lol but that is not important I hope you like it =)
She sat in a meadow watching the grey sky above her, changing ever so slowly.
She could smell the nearing rain and earth.
This was the same place where she and her friends had fought for their town and for their lives, so much blood had spilled in this very meadow, and yet this was the place where they had all come together, becoming closer than they had ever been in their lives
Bonnie came here often to remind herself of just that.
This place that held both the worst and best of her memories just seemed to call to her every once in a while.
She was here today because she had to escape from the little town that remembered none of the evil that had resided there weeks before.
Sometimes she would wish that she was one of them.
They didn't have to carry the burden of knowledge with them.
They moved on with their merry little lives not knowing the pain and loss she and her friends had endured to give them the gift of not remembering the darkest time their little town had seen.
She couldn't forget though.
Her friends eventually accepted their new roles and moved on, but she could never forget what was lost.
She could never forget those dark eyes that seemed to hold the night sky in them.
She could never forget his voice as smooth and velvety as the finest black silk.
The way his porcelain skin seemed to glow beneath the light of the moon.
Mostly she would never forget how he had given his life to save hers.
Some days she felt as if he was out there looking out for her.
As if he wasn't truly gone.
A single tear slid down her cheek as she thought of him.
She would never get to tell him what she never had the courage to say when he was still here.
She knew in her heart that despite his love for Elena, that she and he were meant to be together.
She knew that with time he would see this himself, but now?
Now he was gone, and she was left to grieve the love he never had the chance to know.
Rain drops fell onto her upturned face, washing away her tears.
The rain somehow soothed her broken heart.
As if it was Damon's way of telling her they would meet again, even if in another life.
She walked towards the damp woods, sparing one more glance at the meadow.
If she would have looked closer she would have seen the crow perched above watching her every move.
