Short oneshot I promised on my HOA fan account on IG. Follow: jeromesjaffray!
"Tada!"
Eddie took his hands away from Patricia's eyes and grinned, waiting for her reaction to the surprise before them.
"A boat." Patricia stated.
"Yeah, I thought we could go for a ride." He suggested, pulling her to the edge of the water.
Eddie had spent the morning with Willow, trying to plan a nice date for his and Patricia's one year anniversary (if you didn't count the two months they had been broken up). Willow had suggested multiple things that had been much too tacky and cliché to be right for him and Patricia. But he thought that maybe, it'd be fun, to be cheesy for one day. Just to try something new. And just to annoy Patricia.
"Um, okay…" she said slowly, letting him help her into the rowboat.
Eddie launched them into the water and rowed them around until they were in the middle of the lake. Patricia looked around, and then her eyes landed on her boyfriend. She arched an eyebrow and spoke,
"What's this about?"
"Nothing just—happy one year anniversary, babe." He replied.
"You do know we had been broken up for like, two months of that year, right?" she snickered.
"We're not counting those months—it was stupid, breaking up. Let's just enjoy this moment together, shall we?" he smiled; letting go of the oars and linking his fingers behind his head as he leaned back to relax.
Patricia smirked and planted a hand on his firm chest. His green eyes shot open as he flew back and tipped over the side of the rowboat and into the water around them.
"Yacker!" he sputtered once he had surfaced.
"Sorry, Slimeball, I couldn't help myself." She laughed.
Eddie grabbed her arm and tugged until she tumbled in with him.
"Weasel!"
"Sorry, Yacker, I couldn't help myself." He mimicked her.
She narrowed her eyes at him and he grinned at her cheekily. "Yeah, this whole romantic thing really isn't our thing." He chuckled.
"Actually, this is pretty romantic if you ask me." she teased, splashing him playfully.
He splashed back and she shrieked, beginning to swim away from him, but he immediately grabbed her around the waist and pulled her back to him.
"Patricia…you're being very difficult." He said lowly.
She turned around and they started laughing. She took his face in her small hands; his dirty-blonde hair stuck to his forehead and his hand brushed her auburn hair out of her eyes green eyes while the other held onto the side of the boat. Their lips met in a short kiss.
Patricia was glad that they weren't a cheesy couple; they were different and she preferred it that way.
