The Yearly 365 Challenge

Prompt Number: 91 (Word) Demure

"Let me be the blonde that you want." Melody husked. "Just close your eyes Veronica; and I can make you feel like Betty is in your arms right now."

Veronica shook her head. "Get away from me Melody." She spoke in a rough tearful voice. Her eyes slanted as she glared into the open eyes of Melody Valentine. "Just get the fuck away from me."

"I can be as demure as Betty always was." Melody locked eyes with Veronica. "I can make you believe that it's Betty is in your arms. That it's Betty making your body hum as musical as it wants. That it's Betty that makes you come over and over." She brushed back her blonde hair. "I'm good at being someone else for other people. Ask around."

Veronica bit her lip. "You can never be Betty for me Melody. You are you. You are your own person."

"People don't want me when I'm myself. They only want me when I can make them feel like they are with someone else." Melody tilted her head to the right. "Someone that they love. Someone whom they can't have. I'm their fanasty." She stepped forward. "Let me be your fanasty Veronica."

Veronica shook her head. "I'm sorry Melody but you can never be my fanasty. You can't be Betty. Betty is gone. She's never coming back. She's dead." Her arms wrapped around her waist as she knelt down to the ground. Her head bowed until it rested against the carpert.

Melody sank down in front of the broken woman. She rested her hand against Veronica's racking back. Tears falling down her cheeks. "I'm sorry that I had to go this far Veronica. But you needed to finally break and grieve."
