Save Me
Itachi: 9
Sasuke: 4
Darkness. Young Sasuke opened his mouth to scream, but gagged at the water that rushed in. He was really in for it now.
He was only supposed to stay in the shallow end, but he thought he could handle swimming –it didn't look too hard- just like Itachi. Oh how wrong he was!
All the adults of this Uchiha gathering were sporting around the barbeque, talking laughing and with general merriment (as much merriment that Uchiha's could muster anywho). None noticed the little boy wading deeper and deeper into the pool, until he slipped down the incline and his entire head disappeared from view, after flailing madly of course.
Just as the little boy was to loose consciousness, he felt strong arms wrap around his midsection, pulling him from his almost watery grave.
The elder, clearly of close relation because the two greatly resembled each other, was drenched in his clothes, having had to have jumped into the water to save his drowning younger brother.
"Hey," he snapped his fingers in front of the younger's face, making sure he hadn't died. 'Cause that would have really sucked for him. "You alive?"
Sasuke jolted at the voice, coming out of his reverie and looking at his savior. Tears flowed down his face as he hugged his idol tightly, saying, "You saved me! I almost died, but you saved me!"
Really not wanting to attract attention for this, the young protégé hushed his crying brother as best as the socially inept young boy could, and led him away from the adults.
"B-but how di-did you save me? You weren't here before?" Sasuke stumbled out.
Itachi sighed soundlessly and pulled his fingers through his drying hair. He was slightly awkward, "Well, you see… I was late, and then I showed up…?"
Sasuke frowned at his out of character older brother. "Oh…"
Itachi poked his little brother on his forehead, causing the younger to scowl. "Yep. And anyway, mother promised me a lollipop if I watched over you," a smirk twisting the lips of the older. 'And I really wanted that lollipop!'
