"Just for this moment...
...As long as you're mine."
As Long As You're Mine, Wicked
I'll Never Forget You

"Myu!" Kiba's heart leapt to his throat and skipped a beat simultaneously and he froze. Oh, how he had feared he would never see her again! She giggled and waved at him, her eyes aglow.
The temporary paralysis coating his limbs lifted and Kiba sprinted down the hill he stood on, almost throwing himself at her. Myu skipped out of the way, her light caracal frame more agile than his strong, thick-boned wolf frame. She giggled again and turned, flicking him across the face with her thin tail. Kiba bared his teeth in a wolfy grin and spun to try to catch her, but she was always a step ahead of him. They chased each other, running up and down the hill and around the lake, then he pounced and pinned her down once more and there they were, looking into each others' eyes again like that time so long again.
"Kiba, will you stay with me forever?" she whispered, her voice sweet against his ears. He felt the familiar ache near his heart and pulled away from her, an echo of a time long gone.
"We're not even the same species," he replied, his voice breaking and tears stinging his eyes. Myu sat up and leaned up against him, her soft hair brushing the bare base of his neck.
"It doesn't matter here. Nothing matters here," she whispered again, turning so her breath heated his ear. Kiba closed his eyes, feeling like his heart was being ripped in two. He opened his eyes to reply, but she was gone. Just like last time.
Kiba jerked awake, breathing hard and soaked with fear-sweat. Why was he so frightened?
Oh, it was a nightmare. Whatever had it been about? All he could remember was a strange feeling of longing, and the sense he had been there before
He pulled himself to a sitting position and leaned up against the wall of the alley he had spent the night in. This was the third time this week he had had an odd feeling of déjà vu.
Now, Kiba didn't believe all the nonsense about reincarnation and past lives and all that, but something kept nagging at him, telling him that he was missing something, something from a previous life.
As he got to his feet and brushed off the alley dirt, a ghost of a laugh drifted by his ears, bringing the same sense of déjà vu once more. Oh, well. It would reveal itself to him in time. Things usually did. Or, at least, they had at one point in time...
A/N: First Wolf's Rain fic! Be impressed! Just kidding; actually, it's rather sloppy, but I think Kiba/Myu is the sweetest thing ever. So, yes. Review and I will be very happy. And I don't own Wolf's Rain, Kiba, or Myu, but I do own my fic. So there. Don't steal it. :3
