With blood dripping down her neck, out of the freshly opened wound, Elena stumbles to her car, fumbling with the handle because of her shaking hands. He had come out of nowhere, and made a meal out of her blood. The events of the evening played back in her mind, and she almost wished the vampire had been able to compel her to forget...but she had been wearing the vervain necklace Stefan had given her.

Tears began to pool in her eyes as she began driving to the boarding house. She didn't know where else to go. Jenna couldn't see her like this. Bonnie wouldn't give her the comfort she needed. But Stefan would. Stefan would calm her down and take care of her.

Tears ran down her cheeks now. She had no reason to cry, but her emotions were too much at the moment. She brought her hand up to wipe her face, and when she pulled away, black mascara covered her hand.

The image in the mirror almost made her laugh. She was a trainwreck.

As she entered his driveway, she began to really realize what she was doing. She was going to her vampire boyfriend's house to have him help her clean up wounds that were still bleeding. Elena shook her head at the thought.

She willed all her strength to reach the door, then gently knocked and prayed he was home. She heard footsteps coming from the other side of the door and breathed a sigh of relief.

"Stefan" Elena whimpered.

She took a step towards her boyfriend and a sudden pain shot up her leg. It gave out, and the ground began to swirl up at her face. She suddenly remembered her attacker kicking her so she wouldn't run.

Stefan caught her effortlessly. his arms wrapped around Elena as she began to sob into his chest.

"Oh Elena. Shh sweetheart, you'll be alright." Stefan whispered into her ear.

He sped up to his room, carrying Elena up the stairs. He gently laid her on his bed, and covered her with his blanket

Suddenly, there was a damp cloth covering her neck, and Stefan was brushing the hair from her face with his fingertips. He acted as if he was touching glass, as if she would break at any moment.

Elena turned her head despite the pain, and nuzzled his palm. She tried to avoid his gaze, knowing that if he looked into her eyes, he would know how badly she was hurt and how much pain she was really in.
