Parting of the Red Sea
It had started with red-striped pajama bottoms and matching red tank tops when she'd stayed with them in the weeks following Haley's death. That very same Christmas Jack had teased her about a candy-cane themed pajama set she'd worn as they opened up all the presents she and the team had bought his son.
Then two years later on their first official date she'd worn a strapless red dress. She'd nearly cried when he'd stopped at a street vender that night and purchased her a red rose to match the dress. Now once a week he sent her a dozen long-stemmed red roses.
Last year when they'd gotten married red had played a major part in the whole ceremony. From the bridesmaids dresses she made JJ and Garcia where to the ties the men had worn.
Yes in deed if he and Jack, now age 10, had learned anything about Emily in the past five years it was that her favorite color was definitely red. Knowing that fact had made picking out her presents over the years fairly easy. Take this Christmas for example. Jack had searched endlessly for a red cashmere sweater; similar to the one he'd accidentally a couple of months ago. Meanwhile from him this year she would be unwrapping a pair of ruby earrings.
Red, the color of love and power; that was the winning combination she'd used to heal both he and his son's aching hearts.
