This is the updated version of my fan fiction, hope you enjoy it! :3 and thanks again to all that reviewed the original.

In the year 5016, the world is dying, and the human race is divided by beliefs and distrust. Ever since the sixth World War, the land was destroyed by radiation meant for the enemy. Survivors lost knowledge of the past, and soon extinction is underway.

I plan to tell you the story of one survivor that travels the perils of this land we now call the Ruins, waiting for the moment where he too will lie down and rest.

First, I think it best if I told you about my friend; His name is Kanda, Yu Kanda, and the only human characteristics he has are his looks. Kanda has Dark blue, long hair and sharp eyes, and wears a light purple tank top, black pants, and brown leather cargo boots. He has a BB gun strapped to his back, a sword to his belt, and holds a large supply bag over his shoulder.

Kanda was walking toward a lone house just to the north of a small town by the name of Lake Town after a long journey deep in the more radiated lands of Ruin. This town was known for a lake that was large and used to be very clear and beautiful, but now Kanda was not able to remember the last time the body of water had shown any sign of life at all.

He walked around the small house before stopping by the door and pushing it open. The inside was dusty, and a dry blood trail led to the back bedroom. Kanda checked the rooms before searching through the cabinets and settling down by the front door, falling into a very light, dreamless sleep.

The next morning, Kanda got up early and headed to his next destination. Jumping over a large ridge, he ran toward the old highway beside a small trading group that traveled from town and safe house to "trade". Kanda had spent the morning killing and skinning some mutated beavers that went a little too close to a town that sat in a giant crater.

Skidding to a stop, he looked over the buildings until he found one spray painted with the letters, "BEAveR PElTs heare". He went in and placed the dog sized pelts on the counter in front of a large, muscular old man. The man handed him a pouch of coins and leaned his chin on his fist, studying Kanda as he spoke.

"S'been a lon time since I'd last seen you. You's and that other guy… what's 'is name? Cross. You's the only ones that bring in the big ones with little to no tears in the fur." Kanda nodded and replied, "Your one of my leads. Small work is a good trade for information.

Kanda walked out and down the broken road to the building marked as "The Moving Bar" for the second part of his business in this town. Kanda never bothered coming to any town unless he had plenty of reason.

"Hey handsome." Kanda ignored the woman sitting against the counter beside him as he waited for the owner of the bar to hurry up and get out here.

The Bar was quite plain with red, water stained seats and a jukebox that no longer worked. Pole dancers danced on an old wood stage, and men and women sat at the bar and even a few tables that had not been affected by time.

And yes, he had not come here for drinks or good times; He was here on business terms only. Though the annoying blonde beside him did not seem to get the idea that he was not in the mood to pretend he had any patience left.

"Need some company tonight?" A black woman walked up to the two, interrupting the woman's attempt at being sexy.

"Your gonna have to go find someone else to harass, you won't get anything from this one." She said with a smirk. The woman frowned, spun and headed over to a group of people talking to what Kanda saw as a young man with short, bright orange hair and one green eye staring right back before he turned back to the woman.

".. Thank you, Naz. She was really getting on my nerves." Kanda said, sipping at the water she gave him. Naz smiled, replying, "No problem. She's been a problem the last few days, I'm just glad she found someone she can't make kiss her ass". Naz stood up straight and continued, "Also, I'll lead you to the boss as soon as his noon exercises are done". Kanda visibly shook, thinking of how amazing that any woman could work under that man and stay sane like Naz.

To explain, Naz worked under Cross Marian, yet she was still the strongest woman in the town. She was the life of the party and the sheriff that kicked butt when she had too. Everyone liked her; even Kanda could stand being social with her.

After a few drinks, Naz came back and led Kanda to the back of the bar. Kanda walked in and stated, "Finally, started to think you had finally been divided amongst your crazy fan girls, Cross". Cross sat against a dark blue couch and lifted his cigarette to his lips, smiling."You wish, boy. They'll never be able to choose peacefully amongst themselves about what piece they'll be taking." Kanda snorted, handing Cross a small cloth wrapped around a ring that Cross pulled from it.

"It's in the safe in the back". Kanda walked behind Cross and leaned by the safe, pulling out a large box. He looked inside it, and moved toward the door.

"Oh, and be careful, there seems to be a large increase in mutations in these parts. You may be you, but everyone goes down in the end." Kanda left after giving Naz the blocks of gold he had found on his journey because she wanted to make a gun of pure gold… Did I mention she is the person who makes Kanda's guns and fixes up his rides?
