"No power in the verse can stop me."

She said it with a smug grin, but even she did not know exactly what it meant. She held the thing in her hand. It was so cold. So terrifying. The terror was emanating from Kaylee. She couldn't stand to look into her eyes to see that fear. Fear of the thing. Fear of her. And the thing seemed to posses her. It felt so normal. Like she'd held it just so forever. Like she'd killed men with one shot every day of her life. She didn't even have to look. Have to aim. It terrified her that she could do that. But the smugness would not recede. Would not give way to the terror. She sauntered off, still holding the thing tightly. It was wrong. All wrong. But it was also so very right.
