Gabriella looked up into his eyes, wrapped in his embrace for a second. She looked beautiful in that moment. But she unwrapped herself, and began going through his stuff.

Troy watched with detached amusement as Gabriella picked up the robot Chad had given him for his 7th birthday. She made the arms move and light up, all the while never knowing she was touching something so important to his past. Strange mocking noises escaped her lips and she'd never know that it actually hurt.

But no amusement could come from her picking up the red cape. He remembered running around, chasing each other playing 'Super Hero'. He tried to explain, hoping she'd put it down. "It's Chad's."

"Right." That mocking sound again. She grabbed it at both ends and swung it around his shoulders and he held his breath, not wanting to know if Chads scent was still lingering on it. She giggled and it should've sounded beautiful. So why could he only feel pain?

He wanted her to put down all the stuff and never touch it again. None of it. These memories and items didn't belong to her. She had no right.

He saw her lean up, attempting to kiss him, before his mothers voice broke the air and he had never been so relieved. She called them down and he jumped at the opportunity, unwrapping Chads cape–so cold from years of it being left up here–and packing it away again.

He knew she still wanted and expected him to kiss her again. But... he couldn't do that, at least not in a place so personal to him. "Come on!" He called to her.

They hurried down the tree again, he drove her home and came back to the tree.

Sitting up there, wrapped in his best friends cape he wondered why it still hurt.
