Ron looked on at the pair of them, as they stood gazing in each others eyes, holding hands. He smiled to himself. Feeling happy and relieved that this moment had finally arrived.

She looked beautiful in her ivory laced dress, with a short and simple train. He matched her with a pale blue tie and a navy flower in his jacket, bring out the colour of his eyes.

Ron couldn't help but beam with pride. He had treated Matt like his own son as they worked along side each other day after day. He had grown fond of the young DS the moment they first started working together.

He liked to think that the feelings were kind of mutual. After all, Matt had asked him to be his best man and all…but Ronnie couldn't help but feel guilty as he knew it should be Paul standing there holding the rings, not an old guy like him. Paul was his best friend from his childhood, but seeing as he had took his own life, which had devastated the young DS, he felt that he was second best. Deep down he knew that Mattie would think that that was daft. Ron wouldn't dream of letting him down so genuinely took the offer of best man as soon as Matt and asked him.

He turned to Alesha. Another member of the team he had grown to love and admire. She was a brilliant crown prosecutor. One of the strongest women he had known. He, and he wasn't alone in thinking, that she wasn't going to be strong or this happy ever again.

His stomach churned when the cast his mind back to the Merrick case. None of the team had taken a case more personally than this specific case, especially Matt Delvin. But she had come out of the case stronger, albeit taking some time and a little help and patience from her friends. Ron believed that a lot of that help had come from Mattie boy.

Alesha had also returned the favour to Matt during the case of his best friend. They were so right for each other, they had held each other close through the hardest times of their lives and it had finally come down to this moment in time.

Ron grinned from ear to ear as he heard the words: "You may now kiss the bride."
