As she sat on the edge of his bathroom tub feeling lost, she realized that her life was forever changed. For once she had been caught up in the moment and hadn't stopped to consider the consequences.
For weeks everyone had been going out to the clubs together. There they were able to let go for a while. For a while they could pretend that the stresses and losses of the last year weren't there. Everyone could put the past behind them and pretend they knew how to pick up the pieces and function everyday.
So every weekend they went out to get away from it all. Last night had been no different. They had gone out as a group of friends. They drank, danced and just enjoyed being alive. But whether it was the stress of the last year, the challenge of getting through the week or the amount of alcohol consumed, things last night were different.
As the night moved on and everyone became free, inhibitions were lowered. Members of their group started pairing off and dancing. The dancing soon changed, becoming more sensual and seductive. Just dancing so closely encouraged extra touches. It felt good to be desired, even if it was all pretend. No one in the group noticed the changes; they were too caught up in their own night.
The dances and touches led to small kisses. Small kisses then lead to full snogging. After the snogging started, the rest of the night is a blurred mixture of sensations, desire and passion.
This morning under the light of day things had changed. The comfort of talking, laughing and just 'being' with him had turned awkward. Both of them were suddenly unsure of each other. Unsure of what had happened and what that meant. Neither one knew what to do. All they were aware of was that last night they had started out as friends and had then progressed into the unknown.
As she sat in the bathroom she thought of all the things that drew her to him. He made her laugh and challenged her wit. He was thoughtful, creative and caring. He forced her to have a balance in her life.
Her biggest fear she decided was that she didn't know how he felt. He was her best friend and they had slept together. Would they stay the same as before? Would they change for the better or for the worse? What would he say? How could she take it?
There was only one way to find out. She would have to go back out there and face him. 'Not just face him' she thought, 'talk this out.' If it works, everything would be worth it. If it didn't her world was forever changed.
At that moment she gathered up every ounce of courage and bravery she could find and opened the door.
