David Webb pulled the trigger.

It wasn't the first mistake he had done in his life but sadly, it was the biggest. His first one had been reading the heroic old tales in his childhood, in which there were always happy endings. The second one had been that truly believing them.

David Webb was a good kid. He never swore out loud, always went to church at Sundays, held the doors open for the people passing by, rushed over to help his friends and/or strangers alike. His childhood passed with dreams of being a hero, reading Superman under the lamb beside his bed, believing in the Truth, the Justice and the American Way. There wasn't any question in his mind about what he was going to do with his life, being of only child of Colonel who died in Vietnam War, he waited patiently until his time came, never doubting about his destiny. David Webb had born for saving American's lives and it was that simple in his mind.

The night that he told her mother that he had joined into the army, in front of the sideboard where stood him and his father's oldest photo, the one they had taken at the night that he was leaving to Vietnam, she had held his face between her hands and told him with tears that his father would have been so proud of him, of his little soldier. With bright and hopeful eyes, his army star on his chest, David Webb was so certain that the future was going to bring him only glory.

David Webb had born with fool's hopes and good intentions that could be only found in fairy tales and Jason Bourne had born with a deadly mistake.
