The next day during practice Gwaine told the royal prat what merlin had said.
"I was born on the last day of the shortest month at it's longest point"
"I have had four Birthdays."
"It will be a few years before I celebrate the anniversary of my birth again."

Leon and Percival had been listening in to the conversation and had figured out Merlin's riddles easily and both were shocked at how young Merlin really was. The servant was barely more than a boy.

Back at the edge of the training field Merlin watched as his two best friends tried to understand the puzzle of his age, he also saw the looks that the two quiet knights threw his way. To Merlin, Percival looked pleased while Leon looked both amazed and sad.

Gwen watched the whole scene from the window of the royal bedchamber. She knew that Arthur wanted to know how old Merlin is, but to her it didn't matter. She thought of Merlin as a younger brother and she celebrated the day he came into her life.
