Reid has done a lot of things with a lot of people.

Likewise, he knows a lot of stuff about a lot of things.

He knows the difference between expensive champagne and cheap champagne.

He understands the concept of forgiveness, but knows that he's not particularly good at it.

He knows the difference between selvedge and regular denim, can tell the time of day just by looking at the sun and can spot fake designer products from five feet away.

He knows intimately the molecular structure of the broca's area and the wernicke's area, can fully articulate the purpose and makeup of each brain hemisphere and can recite all 50 states in reverse alphabetical order.

He knows how to say his blood type and medical history in twelve different languages, because you can never be too sure, and knows how to order food in at least five others.

He knows the story of Passover, even though he's not Jewish. He knows how to count to ten in japanese, even though he's never been and he knows that Coke is better than Pepsi even though he doesn't drink either.

He knows that he's twice the neurosurgeon Derek Shepherd could ever hope to be, and that most of the procedures they do on that show are ridiculous, and probably illegal. That The Beatles are overrated and that MTV has probably ruined music, for good.

He knows the best looking man in the world, apart from himself, is Anderson Cooper and that given the chance to be alone in a locked room he'd – whoo.

But of all the things that Reid Oliver knows, he has a list of favourites. Things that he really enjoys knowing.

He likes knowing how to remove malignant brain tumours and give people a second shot at life. He likes knowing that he's making a difference in peoples lives, and as much as he will never admit it – he likes knowing that wherever he is in the Oakdale, someone who knows him is probably within arms reach.

But his favourite, his absolute best thing that he knows, is Luke.

He knows everything about Luke, from the way he has his toast in the morning to his bedtime routine. He knows that Luke prefers to drink decaf because he doesn't like feeling jittery, and that Luke will always put his family before himself – sometimes even to a fault. He knows that Luke has never entirely renounced the Grimaldi's because he's not the kind of turn his back on anyone, regardless of how much they wrong him. He also knows that kissing Luke behind the ear is a sure fire way to get lucky. And he knows that the way Luke loves is consuming, passionate and overwhelming.

Reid Oliver knows a lot of things, but best of all he knows that at the end of the day, there's a warm bed with a warm body in it just waiting to whisper over the top romantic things to him and love him in a way he isn't sure he deserves.

What more does he need to know?
