Reaching Across the Milky Way
A Sesshoumaru x Rin Fan Fiction Story
Inuyasha was the first anime series that I ever watched and it still remains one of my favorites today. I quickly found myself drawn to Sesshoumaru's character – he hardly talks, so how can we know what he was thinking? Although I watched the show to root on Kagome and Inuyasha, by the time that Final Act rolled around, I was already over that pair and thinking about Sesshoumaru.
The events of Final Act provided clarity about some of his actions and gave us a glimpse into what an emotional attachment might be like for him (even if that relationship wasn't a romantic one). But I was hardly satisfied with the ending: Rin lives in the village while Sesshoumaru continues floating around doing whatever it is that he does? I could not see that arrangement continuing indefinitely, even if that's what he preferred. Eventually Rin would want change, but what happens then?
Reaching Across the Milky Way is my best attempt to answer that question.
This story is broken into 3 parts: Thinking in a New Light (prologue), Reaching Across the Milky Way, and an epilogue (TBD).

2014 - Chapters 1 through 4 have been rewritten for a change in direction
2017 - Chapters 6 through 13 have been rewritten to retcon my OC, Aeveen, who was not meshing with the aesthetic of the series.
Over the past 4 years, I continue to enjoy watching over Rin and Sesshoumaru as they finally turned towards each other.
This is a story about a girl growing up in a turbulent time, gaining confidence in herself, and learning about love. This is the story about a man who has answered to no one, taking responsibility for his actions and for the lives of others, while learning to accept his love for another.
