What, You Don't Like My Dress?

This is a one-shot that I'm writing in between chapters of my other stories. Enjoy!

This was a very important day for her, and Sam couldn't be happier. Janet buzzed about her. She was applying blush here, some mascara there. She'd ordered Cassie to fetch some water. It was really just an excuse to get Sam alone. She looked at her best friend and smiled. "You've been waiting for this day for a very long time Sam."

Sam nodded, not daring to move more then that. She didn't want to risk ruining her make-up.

Janet grinned. "I remember the words you told me when I married Daniel. And now I pass them on to you." She clasped Sam's hands in hers. "Though the road may be rough, the path is always clear. Follow your heart, and you'll never get lost." She kissed Sam's cheek, wiped away stray tears, and fixed Sam's make-up where the tears had left a trail. "I love you Sam. This is your day, and you deserve it."

Cassie arrived with the water and Sam took a big gulp of it. She examined herself in the mirror. She was wearing a long, silky white gown that flowed to just the tip of her toes. She loved that when she walked the tips of her shoes showed. She was so proud of the shoes. They looked very elegant. And they showed off the diamond toe ring her fiancé had given her. Sam also loved the tiara that she was borrowing from Janet. It was her great-grandmothers. The crown accentuated Sam's veil perfectly. She'd opted not get a veil that covered her face, and Janet agreed with her. Her mother's pearl earrings dangled from Sam's ears like fishing lures bobbed in the water. Sam looked down at the sapphire ring her father had bought her. It fit perfectly on her right middle finger. He'd gotten it when she graduated from high school.

"Sam, its time." Jacob said from the doorway. He stepped into the room and admired his daughter. "You look beautiful." He kissed her forehead.

No father had ever looked so proud to be escorting his daughter down the aisle. Jacob's face held the grin of a man who was not only proud of his daughter, but also of his future son-in-law. When asked who gave her away, Jacob only paused for a second before replying that he did.

Sam kissed him, then turned back to her fiancé. He looked stunned. And handsome. He looked amazing. And he was all hers.

"Do you, Jonathan O'Neill, take Samantha Carter to be your wife – to live together after God's ordinance – in the holy estate of matrimony? Will you love her, comfort her, honor and keep her, in sickness and in health, for richer, for poorer, for better, for worse, in sadness and in joy, to cherish and continually bestow upon her your heart's deepest devotion, forsaking all others, keep yourself only unto her as long as you both shall live?"

There was silence in the church while everyone waited for Jack's response. He stared at Sam, still amazed that she'd said yes to his proposal. She grinned, knowing what was going on in his mind. He wasn't having second thoughts. He was just relishing the moment. To break the tension, Sam nudged him. "What, you don't like my dress?"

Jack grinned at her, squeezing her hand. "I just want this moment to last forever." Then he turned to look at the preacher. "I will."
