He was shaking.
Why was he shaking? He'd done it, hadn't he?
The pale skinned homunculus slowly pulled his hand out of the limp corpse's chest and sat back heavily, thin pale arms propping up his upper half as he slumped backwards, closed his eyes lazily.
A sardonic smirk tainted his lips, followed by a dark chuckle and a hollow resounding laugh that threw back his entire upper body, made his shoulders shake, his eyes crinkle shut gleefully.
There. I killed him. Isn't that what I've always wanted? Isn't it?
Something hot and wet streamed down his face.
The homunculus scowled and wiped it away irritably, then stared in horror at his hand, the clear salty substance clinging to his slender fingers.
...crying. What in the hell? Homunculi don't cry; homunculi don't care enough to cry...
A low throaty growl and he slammed his fist into the ground, grinding it angrily into the crushed stone. His face contorted sharply in rage, then smoothed again, sulky, dark eyes flickering distractedly.
He threw a scornful glance at the bloody, broken body beside him, the limp golden hair, dull amber oculars staring at everything, nothing, eternity.
"You deserved it, you know," the homunculus told it, lolling his head back to stare at the ceiling. "Carrying that bastard's blood, being so arrogant as to fight so hard to keep it alive, being what I never got the chance to be and never appreciating it... you brought this upon yourself, really. And I was always going to win."
He laughed again and staggered to his feet, movements jerky with a controlled façade of instability in both body and mind.
One last look, one last lopsided grin, and he turned and walked away, casually flicking two fingers over his shoulder in farewell as he left.
"Goodbye, Edward Elric; watashi no chibi-san."

A very, very short piece of work that I wrote when I was bored and thinking about -insert topic here-. Haven't seen the end of the anime, so I don't actually know what happens. Here's hoping nobody cares.
And sorry to any Ed fans who might be reading this; I actually really like him, he just happens to be dead in this fic. Forgive me! XD;
