Riley and Maya are sitting on Riley's bed, tired the days events. Maya looked at Riley and softly asked, "You tired, Ries?"
Riley looked at her and smiled playfully. "what do you think? You've been with me all day, are you tired?" she replied, nudging her.
Maya, smiling at her quirky friend, replied with a yawn, "of course I'm not tired."
Riley laughed and tilted her forehead against Maya's. "It's okay if you are. Do you want to sleep over?"
Maya, though a little surprised by the sudden affection, leaned into her touch. "Of course I want to sleepover, I'd love to."
Riley got up and grabbed the pajamas that Maya always left there and tossed them at her. "Then go put these on, goofball," Riley ordered with a laugh.
Maya smiled, then went to go get dressed.
When Maya came back, Riley was already laying down in her bed. She smiled, then walked over and got into to bed next to her. She scooted closer to riley until their foreheads were touching like before, then placed a hand on Riley's cheek and slowly started stoking it.
Riley, loving the attention she was receiving, closed her eyes in contentment.
Maya put her other arm around Riley's waist and said, "I'm sorry we haven't been doing this more often, because I love you, dork."
Riley opened her eyes and smiled. She leaned to the side and placed a soft kiss on Maya's cheek. "I love you too," she replied, still smiling.
Maya was caught off guard from the kiss on the check, but she happily accepted it and pulled Riley into a full-on embrace. They both lied in silence for a while, comfortable in each other's arms.
"Goodnight Maya. Sweet dreams," Riley finally whispered, sounding far off in her own world.
Maya smiled and tucked her head under Riley's chin. "Goodnight, Riley." They both slept soundly that night.
30 minutes later...
Cory Matthews poked his head into Riley's bedroom, making sure the girls were in bed. He saw the girls cuddling each other and sleeping soundly. He smiled to himself. "My girls."
