Fruit Alphabet: Apple

The Ylissean tactician was extremely agitated. Normally, the lady's temper was not exactly something that was quick to disturb; she was very calm and level-headed most of the time. However, this very phenomenon was something out of her league; this was the exception.

She could put off some barbarian's blood lust with a single flick of her hand; she could laugh off Vaike's forgetfulness in battle though it inconvenienced them all; and she could definitely forgive Chrom's bath-witnessing incident with a few of her smiles. However, this particular matter was unforgivable; the disappointment was nigh dreadful. She could not help harshly biting into her thick coat in sheer irritation.

It was a roller coaster of emotions: she was happy at one moment, then madly blushing at the next; then she would harbor this perfervid heat in her face while she would arch her back in pleasure. But then, before she could even reach satisfaction, disappointment would suddenly come in when bobbing blonde pigtails would come and push the flap open.

She was afraid she rendered her prince impotent because of all of her unfinished businesses.

It was fine if it happened once or twice, but all the time was completely inexcusable.

And so she took it to herself to march in her happily married best friend's tent despite the blush powdering her pale face.

She, with mad carmine red kissing her face, abashedly recalled the unfortunate events to the beautiful Sumia. She was stuttering and tripping over her words so bad that she was shocked to hear Sumia laugh and agree with the feeling. But she was even more surprised and a little bit frustrated when the Pegasus Knight handed her a single shiny apple before waving her off.

And so, with her head on the table and her right hand poking the fruit with bored annoyance, Robin contemplated to herself as to what kind of magic a red apple could conjure to be able to solve all the world's problems. She did not know if she would be angry or not, but then she remembered Sumia leading her to the best path in her conquest of winning over her dense lover's heart.

After a few minutes of silence on her part, she has decided that eating the apple was probably Sumia's answer to all of Robin's suffering. Maybe her best friend was jokingly making her realize that there was no way to counter this curse and that she and her lover would only be happy once they got married. The apple was probably an offering of sympathy.

Robin was about to take the fruit into her stomach, but then some bastard tried adding fuel to the fire when that someone entered her tent without permission.

"Robin,"

"What do you—oh, it's you."

Her heart suddenly leaped out of her chest upon seeing her beau's perfectly handsome face. Oh gods, how tempted she was to just attack him and madly kiss him then and there. How she wanted to whisper to him her heartfelt "I love you"'s and recite to him an oral love letter. Egads, was he so incredibly charming!

"Why were you so irritated just a few seconds past?" He asked her and bemusedly laughed.

Robin wondered if Chrom could be put in a cell for being too attractive.

She did not bother on giving him a straight answer and opted on banging her head on the desk once and cuddling into it. She knew in her heart that any advancement she would take would only lead to disappointment. After all, Chrom's beloved little sister, Lissa, was bound to barge in her quarters after a while; she was sure of it.

Chrom chuckled at his darling's antics and strode forward to start comforting her. After he reached her personal space, he decided to pop it and gently patted her head.

"Oh come on, why the look of unpleasantries?"

After leniently caressing her with his left hand, he placed his other hand on the desk; that was when he noticed the lustrous red apple resting harmlessly beside her. Curious, he picked it up and brought it close to his face. He sniffed it and raised a puzzled eyebrow at Robin, "Did this apple, perchance, upset you?"

She just muttered a tired, muffled "Yes".

"Huh? But why would a tasty fruit bother you so?"

Robin, growing tired of her own moping and Chrom's promptings, lifted her head up and said under bleary eyes, "Well, actually—"

Her eyes grew wide when she noticed him already munching half of her answer-to-the-world apple. She was not, however, perturbed by the fact that he ate it first. Rather, she was taken aback by the way he ate the fruit.

Chrom's technique of eating an apple was to first peel the skin off with his teeth. Then, he would lick the bare flesh of the fruit before gently biting it off. And also, while munching, he would occasionally lick his lips to catch the oozed juices before they drip down.

Robin gulped and started replacing the apple with her body in her imagination. Chrom was still happily consuming the fruit, so she put in her mind that it was still safe to continue staring at his unknowingly seductive behavior. Before she knew it, her mouth was hanging open and her cheeks were flushed with pink.

She found herself squeaking away when her lover suddenly shifted his eyes and locked in with hers.

The blue-haired prince bit off the last of the apple's edible parts before placing the remnants down, "A gold for your thoughts?" He asked in mild amusement.

At his suggestion, Robin felt herself being attacked by the sun that was Chrom; her face was hotter than a kettle on a stove.

She shook her head frantically and tried to dispel her redness while she was at it. When she finally composed herself, Robin took a deep breath and stared directly into Chrom's navy eyes, "No." Was her plain answer.

The prince's face fell, and so Robin turned a full one hundred eighty degrees away from him to avoid his puppy eyes, "A-and besides, Henry would curse us if you spent money on such a useless—"

"It's just a single gold."

"Yes," She snapped back and whirled around to face him again, "A single gold. What if you broke your armor and needed it replaced? If your armor costed two thousand gold and you've only got one thousand nine hund—"

"I'll just have Frederick repair it, then." Chrom countered back to her with a friendly smirk, "He'd be more than happy to."

Robin rolled her eyes at him and crossed her arms, "He would but what if—"

In his mind, Chrom sighed albeit being a little amused at her response. His beautiful beau really cannot sense a signal when to quit; she liked keeping on ranting her points until the other party raised his white flag. Unlike those people, however, Chrom did not mind her little musings—her voice was music to his ears. However, at this very moment, he needed to stop her in favor of another motive he had in mind.

"Robin," He made her name roll pleasantly from his tongue, "I love you."

"—if Frederick was—wait, what?"

Robin suddenly felt her knees buckle under her weight. The way her name sounded from him made her spine shiver, but the way he said those three magical words rendered her body feeling like mush. Suddenly dizzy by the huge wave of a light-headed feeling that crashed at her, she took a step back and put a closed hand to her chest.

The tactician breathed in and out before laughing lowly, "D-don't surprise me like tha—"

He did not even give her time to let her heart settle down. Before she could even finish what she was going to say, Chrom quickly glided towards her and took her into a chaste embrace.

"I love you, Robin." Was what his baritone voice sang to her.

Robin was overwhelmed. The way he held onto the small of her back and had his arm loosely wrapped around her waist; the way the scent of his dried sweat pleasantly clung to him, exuding manliness; the way his ultramarine hair lightly brushed her face as he cuddled into the nape of her neck; the way he made her feel like being caught up in the midst of war contained enchanted moments, too.

Everything seemed so perfect; so very flawless. Oh, if only she did not know better.

"Chrom," She breathlessly let out as he began giving butterfly kisses through her jaw, "Lissa will be…" She wasn't able to finish her sentence as she sighed in satisfaction under his touch.

Chrom lightly took her left hand in his and gave it a sweet peck, "Shh, Lissa's out with Cordelia today…" He whispered.

"Ah…" Was the only sound Robin could utter as Chrom went up and placed his lips on top of her rosy ones.

She was not expecting this. Being loved by Chrom was already a miracle, and so she was not at all taken aback that some force of nature would go on and try to stall their relationship. That was also the reason why she was hugely surprised and relieved at the same time to know that the conflict to their story has decided to take a breather that day.

She felt like a princess in a fairy tale; being swept off her feet by the prince of her dreams.

Once again, Sumia was right. Robin's heart swelled in gratefulness for her best friend's wisdom in love. As absurdly vague as the pegasus knight's answers at times, she always had the correct conclusions at the end of the day. Now, Robin uncovered what her best friend's encrypted answer really was:

An apple a day keeps the cleric away.

"I will definitely take an apple with me everywhere I go from now on." Robin jokingly thought to herself as another round of blissful sighs emerged from her throat.

Chrom peeled his mouth away from hers and shifted his attention to her neck. While keeping her steady with his powerful arms, Chrom attacked her with dainty kisses to her neck and down. Down, down until he stopped over the last of her visible skin.

That was when he went back up and gave his fiancé a chaste kiss on her cherry lips. Smiling, he pulled back and began to unfasten her coat. When he heard the heavy cloth hit the ground with a minuscule "thud", he gingerly simpered and took her in his arms once more.

Robin returned his embrace and giggled softly, "I love you also, my darli—"

"Milord and Robin, I offer my deepest congratulations on the solidification of your feelings; I am very glad you two have decided to produce an heir for Ylisse. I am very much certain that the children would grow up to be as wonderful as their parents."

Chrom nearly let go of his beloved's feathery weight.

Frederick was there, smiling broadly with a handkerchief wiping his tears away. The knight was there; WATCHING Chrom and Robin amorously hugging each other. He was there; COMMENTING on the lovers bearing children. And finally, Frederick was there; he was STANDING THERE without any intent of getting out of their sight.

"OUUUUT!" The lovebirds simultaneously shrieked at the clueless knight; faces tainted red out of embarrassment, humiliation, anger, and disappointment.

While it was true that an apple a day kept the cleric away, an apple a day definitely DID NOT keep the nanny away.
