Disclaimer: I don't own Percy Jackson and the Olympians, because if I did, the movies would be WAYYYYYY closer to the books.
Hello! (THIS IS MY FIRST ONE SHOT)
So I've been meaning to update Five for a really long time now, but I really couldn't get the chapter the way I wanted. After re-writing it time after time, I decided to write a different fanfiction because this idea has been stuck in my head for weeks.
I recently read Th1rteen R3asons Why and loved it! This fic was inspired by the wonderful Jay Asher's book Th1rten R3asons Why.
How It Ends
xXXx
It was just the start; only the beginning; a small fleck of a moment in an endless spiral of time. And yet, was it even possible for a single moment to bring such misery upon a single person? My name is Annabeth Chace, and I am going to tell you the story of my life, and why it ended.
This is how it began.
Confidence: something I struggle with. Bravery: something that everyone desires. Patience: not much coming from here. Sarcasm: lots. Depression: a struggle I think we all have to face. But most importantly, strength.
Contrary to popular belief, strength isn't something you can see. It's the ability to dry your eyes, stand up straight, and put your foot down.
I hadn't realised that I was wandering until I waked straight into a tree; bringing me out of my thoughts. I lived in a small village with many forests, rivers and lakes thrown about. I was, and had been, alone for almost 12 years after my parents died in a fire when I was 3.
I kept wandering after that. Aimlessly stumbling around the dead and living plants, not even bothering to check my head to see if it was bleeding; which it probably was considering I had just walked into a tree, after being attacked and left for dead.
All I could think of was life.
Why were we given life in the first place? Was it just so that our creator could punish at us, laugh us for our mistakes? Or so we could watch nature dance in the wind freely, almost mockingly, as if a metaphor of what our life could never have?
I had stopped by the stream and watched the water trickle down into the nearby lake; running freely, beautifully.
I was tired, tired of being alone, tired of just barely making it through each day, tired of having nothing to wake up to.
Tired.
So I clenched my teeth, kneeled down and wrote one last message in the dirt.
For my attacker(s),
My name is Annabeth Chace, but you may remember me as the girl you beat and left beaten, bloody and dying on the street. I bet you thought you'd never see me again, huh?
Everything has its repercussions, and everything affects something or someone else. These are the repercussions of your actions.
I hope you're happy.
This is the end. The story is finished. It was just another small fleck of a moment in an endless spiral of wasted time. My name is Annabeth Chace, and this is how it ended.
I stepped into the lake, the water up to my neck, and let a single tear escape and slip down my cheek, before plunging my head under the water and taking a deep breath.
This is how it ends. I think before everything goes black, and there is a sudden, hollow silence.
This is how it ends.
