The Hardest Part is Letting go
of Your Dreams
It was midnight, and like clockwork Edward was there at the foot of my bed; he made climbing through a window look effortless.
"Hey" he said whilst smiling that crooked smile that still made my heart beat like a bird trying to get out of it's cage. "Hey" I said as I climbed off my bed to kiss him. I was thankfully Charlie went to bed a while ago; He had a long drive to some police chief thing in the morning, so we didn't have to worry about waking him up. Edward climbed on the bed first, and then I went to my designated spot in the crook of his arm.
"Do you ever miss it?" I asked staring at the blades on my ceiling fan go round and round. "Miss what" he said turning his head to look at me. "Sleeping" I said. " I do it's probably the thing I miss most about being human, but now I'm used to it besides I get to watch you sleep."
He exhaled then turned my face to his. "There is no other time when you are more at peace or more relaxed, you are at your most vulnerable your whole body slows down, your breathing, your heart. Your subconscious awakens and wanders you don't have to be anything you just-" he chuckled softly "have to be."
"Is there anything else you miss?" I asked propping myself up onto my elbow so could face him. "Well I would be lying if I said there wasn't something's I missed." "For example I miss this," he said as he put his ear to my chest, which instantly caused my heart to beat faster, he just chuckled softly and smiled. "And this" he said grasping my hand holding it with both of his own "warmth."
I laid my head on his chest, and wrapped both my arms around him. I took a deep breath "will I miss these things too?" "He wrapped his arms around me, and kissed the top of my head. "You'll miss everything at first, but soon it fades and you get adjusted to this new life.
"I'm nervous," I said into his chest. "Bella" he said whispering in my ear as he pulled us both up into a sitting position. "You don't have to do this if you don't want too." I shook my head, and grabbed his face with both hands. "Edward Cullen" I said in my most serious voice. "I love you with my entire being, and I want nothing more than to be with you; I've made my choice and I want you to change me."
"It will kill me to see you in that much pain again," he said as he traced with his fingers the scar James had given me. "It won't be like that," I said stopping his hands. "I'm choosing this besides Carlisle can give me morphine for the pain." He tucked a loose strand of hair behind my ear, and his fingers lingered on my face. "I will be there by your side the entire time."
"Well then" I said as I laid back down pulling Edward down with me "It's settled, and then you'll be stuck with me forever." "Isabella Marie Swan" he said in his most serious of voices. "There is nothing I would rather do more."
It was around 1:30 and I was getting tired. "Bella close your eyes I promise I'll be here when you wake up" he said as he pulled me closer into the crook of his arm. "I'm not tired," I said as I yawned. He couldn't help, but laugh. "Fine, but only for a half hour. "Yeah, yeah" he said. I drifted to sleep, but I still felt his warm golden gaze upon me and I wouldn't have had it any other way.
