Twilight was born into the wrong family. She knew this from the beginning, though decided against telling anyone. That would ruin it. Instead, she walked down the alley, seventeen with a bulge in her satchel from the grocery store.
The alley was dark and dreary, with a constant jabbering of rich folk's parties and the howl of dogs through the night. It definitely wasn't a home for the faint of heart, that was for sure. Twilight reached the darkest, dreariest part in seconds, her horn gloing faintly to open the door of the "abandoned" building her family resided in.
"Did you get the goods?" Blacktooth asked, his hoof holding a cloth to the floor.
"Of course," she replied.
Twilight dropped a loaf of bread and a hundred coins on the table. Blacktooth grinned giddily, pawing through it with his hoof.
"That's my girl," he cheered, clapping her on the back. "Makes a man proud."
"Good, tell uncle Tenfore to get his ass of the couch and help me next time."
"I heard that!" Tenfore shouted.
"I was hoping you would!" Twilight replied.
"Calm down," Blacktooth ordered. "We've got places to be, no time for shenanigans."
"What happened?" Tenfore asked, unused too hearing his brother so serious.
"The princess knows what we're doing, she caught onto us from an informer. She's gonna send her best dogs after us, and we can't escape them if we tried."
"What'll we do?" Twilight asked.
The air was chilled. Each of them knew the truth. Of the princess was trying to catch them, they wouldn't escape. It didn't matter how powerful their magic was, it wasn't strong enough.
Blacktooth sighed heavily. He wrapped his fore-hooves around his partners.
"They'll catch us," he stated. "Twilight, you should be good. You need to go, take the money and get out of town. They might catch us, but if you get enough bits you can get us back out. It's our only choice."
Of course, it went horribly, terribly wrong.
