Wonderment
During one visit in his position as Kazekage, leader of an allied village of Konoha, Naruto sought him out. He asked about family. What is it like, he wanted to know, and should it be any different than having precious people who are made instead of blood-bound? Kazekage-sama could not answer, and asked in return if it was worse to have and not know, or want and believe in a possible lie. Naruto has no answer either.
During a visit to Suna as bodyguard and messenger of the Hokage, Gaara sought him out. He asked about family. Was it more important than friendship? The ANBU cat could not answer, and asked in return if the two were at all similar. Gaara refused to answer.
At a mass burial between the two villages, Naruto sought out Gaara and stayed by him through the service. He eventually asked about family. Why should anything matter if it is all taken away in the end? Gaara only thought about an answer, and asked why it shouldn't. Naruto refused to answer.
At the ceremony for naming the Nanadaime, Gaara sought out Naruto and stayed by him through the service. He eventually asked about family. If family is anything we say it is, he wanted to know, why do we question it? Nanadaime-sama only offered a smile.
