Pouring Rain
This is the second piece for the USS Caryl spring fling challenge. It the same as Rolling thunder but from Carol's perspective.
I want to dedicate this one to the crew of the USS Caryl.. Jane, Reeder's Muse, Rhinozilla
Thank you for all you do.
She felt beaten, broken
Too many responsibilities
Too much that needed fixed
Calming the tears of an unwanted wife, unwanted mother
Carrying an unwanted child
Holding up a lost boy
Comforting the sad songbird
Propping up a reluctant leader
Guiding the young lovers
Helping the country vet
Pushing the gentle hearted giant
Too much
Then there was him
The one she was closest to
The one she leaned on and who leaned on her
He wanted something
What did he want?
She was swimming in a sea
Of others pain
Choking on the waves of their
Anger and hopelessness
What did they want?
She gives everything, leaving nothing for herself
She is suffocating in their needs
She knows he watches her
Waiting for something
She needs something from him as well
She doesn't know what
But she needs him
The weight of the world pushes her down
Pushes her down harder than ever
A hush falls over them
The silence is broken by harsh sounds of the thunder
She used to fear that sound but loves it now
The sky opens and the rains fall
"God is in the rain"
She lets the rains wash away all of her fears
Embracing this new life
Finding her spirit
She feels joy for the first time in a long time
She spins as she laughs
The rains make her whole
Drive away all her doubt
She can survive this
She can keep them whole
She is strong
She is beautiful
She has power
The joy rips a laugh from her lips
Pulls from deep within
The laugh that buries all the things she hides
Burning away those doubt
She turns to him
He is watching
A look of awe in his eyes
She wonders what he sees
She hears the others coming
Feels their arms around her
She shares her joy and her hope
She has found life
She has found hope
She has found family
As her eyes lock with his
She has found one more thing
Something precious
Something she will guard with her all
She has found love
