Proluge: The Discovery

-

Somewhere in the Elric's home, a young five-year-old Edward paced quietly through the hallway, his younger brother not far behind.

"Brother, why are we doing this?" Alphonse asked.

"Why not? There's nothing wrong about exploring our own house…"

As the two continued walking, they caught a glimpse of something twinkling far ahead.

"What's that?" Al whispered, pointing at the object as he shivered a little.

Ed shook his head. "Let's find out."

Walking forward, they found it was a doorknob, the small amount of light from the window behind them causing it's crystal handle to twinkle. The older Elric looked at the younger, who nodded and the two opened the door slowly. It gave a loud creak and when it was opened, the two brothers gasped at what they saw.

It was a room full of books. Shelves filled with dusty textbooks, notebooks and such. Stacks of books piled in various areas, leaving little room for walking.

Edward ran over to the nearest stack and picked up the top book. Opening it, he skimmed through the pages before looking over at Al.

"These are alchemy textbooks!" He cried, showing it to the small boy.

The two spent hours in the room, skimming through the various books they could grab with their little hands. There were various books, not only those on alchemy, but also fairy tales and other interesting literature.

"Brother, how about this?" Al asked, dragging a thick, heavy, brown book to where his brother was seated.

The two looked over at the title, written in a fancy golden script.

"Myths and Legends from Around the World." Ed read aloud. He looked over at Al.

"Why?"

"Let's read it."

Shrugging, Ed opened the book, over to the first page…

An idea that popped into my head while daydreaming. Really, I don't know how this came up.

So what will be the first myth? Wait for next chapter to find out…

In the meantime, review!
