Author's note: Here's a new oneshot! Long title for a short story, but it pretty much sums it all up. This would probably be set around Campers and Complications, but what happens after would obviously be a little different. I hope you like it!
Austin's POV
It was late in the evening, almost night. I hadn't seen Ally in a while; for the last few days she seemed kind of distant. Maybe it was because she started dating Elliot a few days ago. But it was really bothering me that I hadn't seen her for a while, so I decided to go look for her.
I called her phone, and she didn't pick up. I tried going to her house, but she wasn't there. I went to Trish's house, but she wasn't there either. So I went to Sonic Boom.
"Ally?" I called as I entered.
All the lights were off, and I was responded with silence.
She's probably not here, either. I told myself.
But then I heard a sound. It sounded a bit like squeaking, a bit like sniffling. Crying?
It was coming from above. So I went upstairs, and I heard someone distinctly crying. I opened the door to the practice room, not sure what to find.
And what I found made me want to cry.
It was Ally. And she looked sadder than I've ever seen her.
"Ally?" I asked, "Oh, what's wrong?"
She sniffed, looked up, then looked back down.
"Ally," I told her, "I don't want you to be sad. What's wrong? You don't have to tell me if you don't want to."
"It's nothing." she said quietly between sobs.
"Oh, Ally. Does this have anything to do with Elliot?"
She hesitated for a second. Then shook her head.
"Does it have anything to do with me?"
She didn't respond for a bit. Then she said something.
"It's nothing, Austin."
"Ally, you know that's not true. Otherwise, why would you be crying in the night, alone, in the practice room?"
"I can't tell you, Austin. I would, but I can't."
Then worst-case-scenarios started popping through my head. Was she threatened? Was she injured? What happened?
"Ally, you know you can tell me anything. Any secrets, I'll keep for you. I swear."
"I know, Austin. But this one, I can't."
"Okay," I replied, not wanting to push her any more.
I sat in silence for a few more minutes.
"Austin?" she suddenly said.
"Yes?"
"I-I have to tell you." she whispered.
"Okay," I replied, not sure what she was going to say.
"I-I like a guy, and it's not Elliot."
Oh. Dallas. What other guys would she like?
"Is it Dallas?" I asked, knowing that the answer would be yes.
Instead, she surprised me.
"No."
"Oh," I replied, unable to hide my shock, "I thought the only guys you ever liked were Dallas and Elliot."
She shook her head.
"I realize now that there's only been one guy that I've ever liked. Dallas and Elliot never had anything on this one."
Now I was surprised. Someone she liked more?
I held my breath, not daring to even hope that...
"Austin..." she whispered, "don't be mad at me. But I can't hide it from you any longer."
I kept holding my breath, hoping that she would say...
"Austin, I like you."
My mind didn't process this for a full ten seconds. Then I did.
"Oh my gosh, Ally, I hoped, but I never thought..."
And I couldn't say any more. I pulled her into a hug.
"Oh, Ally." I sighed happily.
"Austin," she sighed, in what seemed to be a mixture of relief and ecstasy.
"Wait!" she suddenly exclaimed.
I jumped.
"Austin, what about Kira?" she asked, concerned.
"Oh, Ally. I broke up with her three days ago. I realized when you started dating Elliot that you were the girl for me, not Kira."
She relaxed.
I kissed her forehead, and realized that she was crying again.
"Oh, Ally, you're crying again."
"I know, I'm just so happy."
"I love you, Ally."
"I love you too, Austin."
