The third in the 'Shadow's life lessons' series!

"Hey Shadow!" Shadow turned to see Amy running up to him. "Guess who has Sonic as her date tonight?" Amy squealed.

Shadow, of course, was not amused. "And I should care… why?"

Amy huffed. "You don't have to be such a put down all the time Shadow!"

"… Where is he picking you up?"

"At… Club Rouge…" Amy trailed off when she saw the look on Shadow's face.

Then he asked, out of nowhere, "Do you love Sonic?"

Amy stared. "Yes." She said slowly.

"Would you do anything for him?"

"Yes." She said it more happily this time.

"Would you give up anything for him to be yours forever?"

"Of course Shadow!"

To the pink hedgehog's surprise, Shadow sighed as he put a hand on Amy's shoulder. "Amy… I have to tell you a story."

"There was once a girl, who, like you, would do anything to have someone's heart. And she actually ended up getting the guy's heart and started dating him," Despite those words, there was an edge in Shadow's voice, "However, there was a catch. The girl was slowly starting to give up everything to be with this guy. Her hobbies, friends, heck, she even cut her parents off. But in the end, the girl regretted what she did."

They had begun walking to Club Rouge, gaining a few looks from passerby, "The guy dumped her one day. So, of course, the girl was in despair for losing someone she loved, and who she thought loved her back. But that wasn't the biggest problem. The girl was still in college at the time, but in the process of dating her ex-boyfriend, she dropped out. It also didn't take her long to find out just how stuck she was. She was jobless, due to her boyfriend having the job after she moved in, didn't even go to school, for self-explanatory reasons, and worst of all, since she had cut off all of her friends and family, she couldn't go back and ask them for help."

Amy hesitated, "What… what happened to the girl?"

Shadow's expression looked grim. Closing his eyes and shaking his head, he only said, "I… don't know what happened to her. No one does actually."

Amy's eyes widened.

They were standing in front of Club Rouge now. "Do you understand why I told you this Amy?"

She gave a stiff nod in reply.

"Good," Shadow nodded. Then he gave her an evil smirk. "Enjoy your date with the Faker!"

Before she could reply, he teleported away.

Amy stood there, at a loss for words, mouth agape. Why would Shadow tell her all of that… and just say 'enjoy your date' afterwards!?

At that moment an albino walked by, but he stopped in front of Amy after seeing her expression from the corner of his eye. Reading her expression, Silver's eyes flickered with sympathy.

He patted her shoulder, "It's alright Amy. Shadow's pulled this stunt on me twice thus far." With that, he walked away.

Amy finally closed her open mouth. Now (ironically)… she didn't feel too keen on going on her date.
