His mother called out, "David wake up you'll miss the bus!" David got up. He eats
breakfast, and does anything else to get ready. He is in eighth
grade, at North Oak Middle School. David is not popular, he is a
pudgy nerd who nobody likes. But before he does anything out of the
ordinary, he plays like a movie in his head of what he thinks will
happen. David likes Cassie, the most beautiful girl
to him and his friend since seventh grade. Last year,
David's friend Greg told David he should tell Cassie he likes her.
David imagined himself telling Cassie and then Cassie says she
likes him too, alot. Cassie hugs him for a while and they live
happily ever after. David came to his senses again and Cassie was
sitting behind him. Cassie has been trying to find out who he likes
for days. Greg kicked him and David said, "Cassie you know how you
wanted to know the girl I like, well its you." They way he imagined
what happened next was a bit different. Cassie ran off as the bell
rang. She didn't talk to him for the rest of the day. But, Cassie
called him that night and said she was shocked and hope they could
still be best friends.David and Cassie had become
even better friends. But, the things that kids said got worse. People
were always asking if they were going out, some even told them that
they were the cutest couple they had ever scene. Rumors went around
and there were a few people who got to inappropriate. David still
likes Cassie whether she likes him or not. This however changed.
One day in tech class Cassie pulls out a pen. David sees a small piece of rolled
up paper in the pen. He asks, "Whats that in your pen." She replies , " A
secret." Then Cassie shoved it in her backpack, left it on the
desk, and went to the computers to continue her wood block design.
David suddenly on impulse took the pen out of her backpack and opened
it. David thought about what it could say. David I love you and I want to be your girlfriend.
This David thought was to the extreme. He then thought it said,
David I like you alot. When he read it, it was not as elaborate.
But, it still made David really happy. The piece of paper said, I
heart David. David's heart started pounding harder and harder
as though his heart would rip though his shirt. David always wanted
something like this to happen but never thought it did. Suddenly, Cassie grabs the
pen out of his hand. She askes him if he read what it said. He slowly
nodded his head. Cassie went in and hugged him tight. Suddenly, David
started to wonder why Cassie never told him. He asked her why she
never told him. Cassie said, "I wanted to ever since you told me,
but I never got up the courage to tell you. That was the purpose of
the pen I wanted you to read it." David's heart continued to beat
harder and harder. The bell rang and David
lost track of time. Periods went by and all he could think about is
Cassie. The final bell rang and David rushed to Cassie's locker. He
passed a pen to Cassie and said, "I'll see you tomorrow."
Cassie opened the pen and read and rushed after him. She stopped him
and pulled him to her and they kissed. She dropped the pen and the
paper slipped out. The paper read, "I love Cassie!"
