A/N: Why am I only uploading this now? No reason, for kicks, possibly? It's already on dA, but why not have the wonderful community of FFN read some of my Fakiru Week stories as well? It's my first time uploading on here, but I've been an avid PT fan since I first watched the show more than a year ago. Fakiru Week 2014 was also my first time participating, and PT is also the first fandom I've written for! So many firsts! So please enjoy, review, etc!
Disclaimer: I don't own Princess Tutu.
It had been a long winter, but now that it was March, spring was just around the corner. Fakir sat under the tree, whose branches were dotted green with new leaves growing. The lake he looked upon had thawed of its ice, and the reeds were already profusely growing. Spring. Sure, it meant more green, but more importantly, it meant warmer weather. And warmer weather meant that the birds who had flown south for the winter would be flying back north, that meant… Fakir put a hand to his face, stopping his next thoughts. He couldn't help it; Fakir missed Ahiru.
At the beginning of last fall, Fakir had tried to convince her to stay the winter, but they both knew that because of a terrible fate, Ahiru would have to leave. When Ahiru turned 15, she was cursed to become a duck for half the year and fly south with the other ducks. This was the third year Fakir had had to see Ahiru leave him. It tore him like it did the first two times, but unlike the first year, he knew that Ahiru would come back. She had promised.
Trying to keep himself busy, Fakir looked at the piece of paper he held in his hand and the pen he gripped with his other. Fakir put pen to paper and began to write.
When the weather began to warm and the green of spring was evident all around, two hearts are once again reunited after the loneliness of the cold seasons. The sun was at its zenith when the knight heard wings flapping in the distance. What that the sound of his angel?
Fakir sighed. He was getting much more sappy and romantic than he had wanted to. I bet even Ahiru will laugh if she reads this. Fakir leaned against the tree and closed his eyes. How much longer until I get to see you again?
Fwooshh… flap! Flap! The sound of wings? Ahiru? Fakir opened his eyes and leapt up. Searching the sky, he saw a lone bird fly. "Ahiru! Ahiru!"
Slow was the descent, but happy were both hearts as their eyes met. While Ahiru was still descending, she became absorbed in a bright light that came from her own body. Yellow feathers swirled around as her form grew and become human once again. Her feet touched down lightly on the ground as the light faded away. Ahiru looked up at Fakir and smiled. "I promised, remember? 'When nature turns green once again, I will come back to you.'"
Fakir wrapped his arms around her and smiled. "Yeah, I know. Green is our color."
