a poem

scattered pictures and broken memories
creating piles of shards
cutting the soles of my feet
as I walk down the lane leading into the past

a painful road covered in snow
my heart hurts as it tries to break free from it's chains
clinging on to the pain
trying to forget the happiness that makes me suffer

bitter smiles and unspoken words
craving for forgiveness without giving in
let her understand
to see the light before the dark

a dream so long forgotten
blue eyes smiling down on me
moths turning to butterflies
as I hear her reaching out

just one word and all is better
just another word and pain returns
holding my heart in her hand without knowing
burning it with anger that shouldn't be there

the walls around our hearts are strong
built of stones made of agony
insult the grout that holds them together
sand in the hourglass wearing them away slowly

running against the hour hand
midnight closer than it seems

living to be loved again
dying without knowing?

Author's note: Well, this came out of nowhere... and I don't know if it's any good to this time I'm going to BEG YOU to review it because I REALLY need input!!
Thanks to Sweetie that she gave me the courage to post it. Like all my work, I let her read it first and when she gives it a thumbs up, I post it.
What would I do without you, Elizabeth?!! Believe me, I don't even WANT to find out!!
