It has only been a few months after what the campers were calling The Battle of the Labyrinth. I, Percy Jackson, son of Poseidon, was living it up with my best friends Annabeth and Grover. I was trying to stall and have the most fun I could with them until I turned sixteen next year. I had been staying at Camp Half Blood for the winter because of the war and my impending doom. Right now, we were huddled around the back of the Hermes cabin, waiting for payback. The Stolls and their cabinmates had dumped spiders in the Athena cabin, the stampede wasn't fun.
Annabeth nodded to me, "Remember the plan?" Grover gave her a thumbs up.
"No, I wasn't paying attention." I actually did know the plan but it was kinda cute when Annabeth was upset. Wait! Did I just say CUTE? Annabeth is just a friend. I think. She glared at me,
"You're impossible!" I smiled and she frowned,
"You know you love me," I put a hand on my chest and gave her a dopey smirk. Her stormy eyes narrowed.
"You wish," My mouth dropped open in mock disbelief. I batted my eyelashes which made Annabeth roll her eyes. She pointed up to the small window above us. She had rigged a pipe system so that I could let some water go in and all over the Hermes campers. I nodded and grinned evily. Some water rose from the large bucket we had and entered the window. After a few silent seconds the yelling began. Annabeth and I rolled on the ground with laughter at the screams of the prankster cabin. They got what they deserved. Annabeth started wheezing with laughter which made me only laugh harder. Her curly hair splayed out around her as the giggled. When I finally stopped laughing, I saw Grover's face had paled and his eyes were wide.
"What's up G-man," I stood and Annabeth followed. We both went over to Grover and patted his back.
"The Ares cabin was in there." Annabeth's eyes went wide and mine probably did the same. His forehead was dripping with sweat.
"PERCY JACKSON!" Clarrise screamed from inside the cabin. Annabeth, Grover, and I sprinted around to the front, the Ares and Hermes cabin emerged from the cabin soaking wet. Clarrise's brown hair was plastered to her forehead, her chocolate eyes burned with hate. She pointed, "GET THEM!" The whole Ares cabin pulled out their weapons and began to chase us, screaming loudly. I had already lost Annabeth and Grover, I hoped they hadn't been taken by the blood-thirsty war spawns. I peeled away from the path and began to take a shortcut to my cabin, not daring to look back. When I reached the stone building, I threw opened the door and barricaded it with my body, my breath coming out in fast, ragged puffs. I turned the lights out, hoping the Ares cabin wouldn't notice I was here. Suddenly, a bright, eerie light emmited from the fountain in the back, illuminating the whole cabin. This was not the time for an Iris Message, but this one was weird. It glowed a strange blue color and was larger than most. In the fuzzy image, I could make out a man is his late thirties. He had jet black hair and sea-green eyes.
"Dad?" The image was fuzzy, but I could see the dark circles under his eyes that looked so much like mine. His hair seemed to have grayed a tiny bit and worry lines creased his forehead.
"Pe-r-cy!" The picture flickered like a TV in a hurricane. "I've- f-inally got-ten aho-ld of you!" I stepped closer, ignoring the growing crowd outside my cabin,
"What's up, Dad? What's wrong." He closed his eyes in concentration and the image cleared a little.
"Percy! My trident has been stolen by that Hermes fellow!" His eyes were as wide as saucers, mine probably looked the same.
"What?!"
"Percy, look, I have to go but I need you to lead a quest to go get it, please?" I nodded slowly,
"Where is it Dad?"
Before the image flickered out I heard his lat words, "The Amazon."
