Wow, short as can be, but I really wanted to do a shot or two cus of the new Professor Layton Vs. Phoenix Wright game that came out and brightened my day!
. I did think Layton was a bit of a cut-scene hog though.
Bile stung the back of Phoenix's throat. What had they just seen? He tried to focus on Maya, who cried weakly in terror, she had spun to clutch his jacket tightly, her face hidden from the horrific sight they just saw. He couldn't move his gaze away from the flames that arced higher and higher, sparks spat from them wildly.
He pulled her closer, his hands ran along her arms a gentle rub, she needed to calm, calm would keep them safe. Maya was a young woman, barely an adult in legal terms, the courts were not safe for her, not if this was common. She trusted him to protect her, she ran to him, of all people, even when their friends stood by, he was damn well going to keep her safe.
"Maya..." His voice was a whisper, barely audible over the flames and crowd. She nodded faintly, still hugged to his chest. "Don't call Mia, no matter what." She looked up at him, confusion changed to terror in an instant.
"O-Ok." He hadn't meant to scare her, but she had to be warned. A rash comment could easily incite Maya so a warning was important to her safety. She pulled back and nodded again, ready to move to the bench. He kept an arm around her shoulder, he dared anyone to touch her, ask about her presence, anything. He would fight for her safety.
Even as he battled Barnham in court he gripped her hand tightly when he could. His memories burned, all their trials flooded back, all the dangers they faced. Not this time. He would keep her safe.
I have a few more in my head, having powered through the game and stuck on 298 hint coins and 4970 picarats. I literally finished the game in what little time I had and them came up with this in a few minutes to explain Mia's complete no show. Though I won't spoiler who got a fully voiced cameo!
