Prologue
November 1989
As many stories go, their story began on the playground when they were around seven and eight years old.
When they first met, Angelica was sitting and talking with another kid on a swing next to the one she was sitting on rocking her legs back and forth. Dean slid down the slide and watched them before deciding to approach her. There was just something about her that made him want to know her. The kid next to her must have seen him because she turned around smiling watching as he came closer.
"Hey, I'm Dean," he said extending his hand. She's busy looking into his green eyes that she doesn't even hear his greeting. The kid next to her elbows her and she comes out of it. She looks back at the kid next to her questioningly and he gestures toward Dean.
Angelica awkwardly takes his hand in hers and shakes it. "Oh, hey I'm Angelica..." She's interrupted by the kid next to her who clears his throat. She laughs before saying, "and this is my best friend Castiel but I call him Cas."
"Well I'm Dean. Nice to meet you, Angel...sorry I mean Angelica." He said looking at her for a long time before looking over to Cas about to say something, but Angelica interrupted.
"Same to you Dean. Cas calls me Angel, but you can call me that too if only if it's okay with him."
Dean and Angelica simultaneously look over at Cas. Cas nods before saying, "Yeah as long as you don't steal her away from me and I lose her." He said it in a joking manner but in all honesty, he meant it. He really was afraid of losing her, but Angelica didn't know that. Angelica punched him in the shoulder while Dean started laughing.
"You won't lose me!" she said as though she read his mind. It's like she knew him from the inside out like no one else did.
"You promise?"
She nods before holding out her pinky and he wrapped his pinky around hers before she looked over at Dean who was clearing his throat gesturing toward the monkey bars on the playground.
"Want to hang out with me over there on the monkey bars?"
Angelica nods excitedly as she gets up off the swing taking Deans hand as she starts running dragging him along.
"Yeah let's go! Come on!"
A few seconds later, they both come running back over to Cas who has his head down. His head came back up after hearing their footsteps approaching. Dean was just a few steps behind Angelica, so he stood and waited. Angelica approached Cas and grabbed his hand pulling him up from the swing.
He got up and as soon as he was by Dean's side Dean patted his back before holding his hand out for a handshake. Castiel shook it before they started following behind Angelica who already was climbing up onto the monkey bars.
"We really didn't get the proper introduction back there. I'm Dean. Nice to meet you Cas." he said as he looked at Cas and was watching Angelica take a sandwich out of his lunch bag setting the other half to the side for him.
"No problem. You too Dean."
