Hey everyone. This is the first chapter in a Teacher! AU drabble fic for Drabbles of Jily over on Key Limes forum. The first chapter is kind of an introduction to teacher Lily and single parent James. I hope you all enjoy the first drabble in the series Parent Teacher Conference.
Lily Evans made a first priority of hers never to get involved with her students parents. It would cause a conflict of interest if any trouble should arise among her students. But then she met him. James Potter the father of one of her more rambunctious students in her class, young Harry Potter.
"I'm so sorry," James told her yet again. "I don't know what's gotten into him." He turned to Harry who was looking very ashamed of himself.
"It's quite alright, Mr. Potter," she told him with a smile. "No one was hurt but I'm really concerned that something is wrong with Harry. Is there something going on at home that would cause him to act out in such a way?"
James shook his head. "I don't think so," he told her. "It's just me and Harry and sometimes his Uncle Sirius stays with us. But I don't think that anything drastic is going on at home." Then he smiled at her. "And you can call me James. Mr. Potter makes me look for my father. Or makes me think I'm in trouble." He smirked at his own joke.
"I think perhaps you should sit down with Harry and ask him if something is wrong. I've never seen a child get in this much trouble unless they were crying out for help."
"I'll sit with him and we'll discuss his behavior."
Lily watched the two of them leave her class after this statement and she could have sworn she saw a disappointed gleam in the young boy's eyes. She'd make a note of this. Perhaps it was nothing but her mind playing tricks on her. But if it wasn't she'd have to have her own little talk with young Harry Potter and ask him what it meant.
